So our TV deal went up by more then 130% but our NZ sky deal will go down by 15%...............
Do you see your logic just does not work..the NRL is currently getting 14m PA atm, that is 70m over 5 years. The NRL will get over 100m for this sky deal just wait and see.

I heard the rumor that Sky wanted to pay less then they currently do and with it being essentially a one horse race this may be what happens. With Australian TV, channels like 9 always said that they would have to pay more. The NRL could only get 14 million out of sky last year after negotiating a 1 year extention. I would agree with you except for those points. I think 70-100 million is a likely range, but to say that the NRL will get 100 million for sure is premature.

It's little coincidence that Channel 7 started dominating the Australian television ratings once they regained the AFL TV rights in 2007.
7 and 10 put in a joint bid for the 2007 - 2011 rights.
