Me thinks 15 years and 5 GFs is enough time to judgeParraEelsNRL wrote:Like the storm with you and your mates huh?

Nup.
Give them another 15 years and we'll see.
Plus one of those GF's is Parramatta's FFS.
Victorian cheating fucks, I'll probably die before I see my team with another GF, thanks cheating scum.

Re: AFL commision failing the AFL public.
All this denial is based on a narrow definition of tanking like Patrick Smith said! The liars have to widen it. That's not hearsay or anything else. That's the dad blasted truth, son! It doesn't matter that Melbourne ended up f---ing it up. They did it. Only a fool would deny it. And I'll also say that the only way the Commission can save face and save Demi-Trio's hide is to punish them big, and I mean BIG! The salary cap breaches by the Storm would have made no where near as much difference. I say we still would have won those flags anyway.Xman wrote:We read media reports. All here say until investigated thoroughly.Striker wrote:It's not speculation! Can't you read? IT HAPPENED!! If they'd taken it seriously from the start we wouldn't be having this argument right now because Melbourne would have been punished!
It's different to salary cap cheating because they were seeking draft picks at no cost and depriving other clubs of those choices and the best young players to develop. Breaking the salary cap doesn't effect anywhere near as much compromising of the system. It just means you're paying people too much.As if you just believe the media

The AFL asked people like Dean Bailey for an explanation for his comments and he denied tanking. How else do you prove it. Now they have more evidence more people are prepared to testify so the investigation can be more comprehensive.
SO salary cap cheatin like the Storm did, where they denied two other teams a grand final, is not as serious??![]()
There is no direct evidence draft picks help anyway. Look at the teams like Geelong or Sydney who never got high draft picks yet won the GF. Look at Melbourne who got and then lost high draft picks.
Tanking is an issue worth addressing and it has been. Melbourne will be punished. But in reality tanking for priority picks has only affected a few clubs, namely Melbourne and Carlton.
Talk about hysteria!

Hmmm, theyve basically been the highest attended club in Sydney for years and no doubt earn more than 2-3 larger NRL clubs combined.Raiderdave wrote:Xman wrote:Yeah, because you judge expansion after 1-2 yearsParraEelsNRL wrote:lol, all these victryhards thinking they know what the people in other states want and how to go about getting it.

Re: AFL commision failing the AFL public.
Except that Patricks definition of tanking is BS. Every team in any sport will experiment with their list and tactics once their chance of playing finals is gone. Its part of team development. The Australian cricket team play kids instead of established stars in minor matches. Is that tanking? So the storm won GFs after cheating the salary cap, yet the Demons have been near bottom after tanking. Hmm I wonder which tactic had the biggest effect on the comp?

Further, the Storm are still successful after being penalised. Clearly the penalty was a farce

Re: AFL commision failing the AFL public.
No doubt Melbourne will get a large fine but with zero debt this wont be a major issue. They will loose a few draft picks as well which will be a worse problem for a club which is already struggling on the field. I agree that Andrew D had his head in the sand on this issue. Not the end of the world he will look like a bit of a tool on the issue but that is about the worst that will come of it. Not sure what this thread has to do with Expansion, but lets wait to judge GSW and GC and as for the Storm they are doing ok. Not the best crowds to the games but they rate well on TV and that is where the NRL gets most of its money from so the Storm will be around for a long time to come.

The definition isn't BS. It's on the freaking money! Melbourne weren't experimenting! They were deliberately making it impossible for the team to play at it's best! If there were drugs involved you'd be spitting chips, and it's no different! That last remark proves how little you know about the Storm! Even without the idiots who paid a few players too much we would still have won those two flags! The Storm are succesful because we are THAT FREAKING GOOD!!Xman wrote:Except that Patricks definition of tanking is BS. Re: AFL commision failing the AFL public.
It is good of you to admit that tanking has happened in the AFL, but the fact that it has taken so long to investigate this issue just shows how incompetent Mr Andrew D is as a administrator, he would rather try and sweep issues under the carpet and use his media arm to try and hide real problems that are effecting the credibility of the AFL competition.piesman2011 wrote:No doubt Melbourne will get a large fine but with zero debt this wont be a major issue. But by all means you AFL boys keep eating up all the propaganda/rhetoric from AFL HQ if it makes you feel better....

The problem is its very very hard to prove. Unless someone comes out and admits it of course. This is what has finally happened hence the investigation.eelofwest wrote:It is good of you to admit that tanking has happened in the AFL, but the fact that it has taken so long to investigate this issue just shows how incompetent Mr Andrew D is as a administrator, he would rather try and sweep issues under the carpet and use his media arm to try and hide real problems that are effecting the credibility of the AFL competition.piesman2011 wrote:No doubt Melbourne will get a large fine but with zero debt this wont be a major issue. Yes, it appears Melbourne weren't just experimenting. But experimenting isnt tanking which is exactly what AD said.Striker wrote:The definition isn't BS. It's on the freaking money! The storms penalties did nothing significant to stop their future performances, they were retrospective only. SO they lost a year, they effectively got to keep the makings of a great team which they never would have developed if it werent for cheating. They are roundly hated by everyone bar Storm supporters and rightly so.
