I have had people on this site say countless times how parramatta Eels should merge with another club........in your dreams.

Parramatta is the 3rd largest city in Aus, outside of Sydney CBD, Melbourne CBD.

There is no way in hell Parra are merging with another club.

"Parramatta is a huge district, both by way of population and commercial metrics.

"It is the third largest economic region in the country behind the Sydney CBD and the Melbourne CBD.

"It's a huge population of over two million in the catchment area out here.

Big region, shit crowds. GWS also own that region you know so do your views on Parramatta also reflect those in GWS in terms of club survival?

Soccer better than the "tired and stale old" Rugby League according to the people of Sydney.

RL heartland :(/ :(/ :(/
A-League showing up NRL with huge crowds
Phil Rothfield
The Daily Telegraph
October 22, 201212:00AM

Last weekend Sydney FC attracted 35,000 fans to Allianz Stadium.

On Saturday night the Wanderers and Sydney FC sold out Parramatta Stadium a week in advance.

It's something the Parramatta Eels haven't done since their grand final charge in 2009.

The atmosphere was extraordinary. This is something our tired and stale old rugby league administrators can learn from.

Just read the article. Why would he want to return to the Eels of the 80s? Their attendances back then were awful. Or does he mean on-field?

Again, wait until the end of the season. Then make the judgment.

Is it possible that Soccer may end its season in Australia with a higher average crowd than Rugby League? Not far off already it appears. Oh the shame.
After four rounds, the A-League is already averaging crowds of 15,460

well considering the 2012/13 A leagues average crowd is .. dropping ... about 800 a game .. a week ( 18,700 in week 1 to 15,400 in week 4)
I'd seriously doubt it

a rise in their attendance aggregate & average is on the cards for sure
which means they'll join the only other code that can claim this feat this year ..... Rugby League
well done to both codes for ..... growing =D> =D>

meanwhile theres another code thats whacked on an extra 22 games in the last 2 years
& lost 360,000 fans through the gate 8-[

lets all    .... at that lot
RL SOO II 4.194 Million veiwers
RL SOO I 4.068 Million
NRL GF 3.968 Million
VFL Grand Final 3.620 Million
SOO III 3.364 Million
NRL Prelim 2.219 Million
Kangaroos V NZ 1.214 Million

Did I read right that eelofwest was having a crack at Parramatta crowds in the 80's?

I'll await your answer first I think.
