Most seats are protected from rain at the G! The weather keeps league fans away and makes the TV attractive. Better venues will help reverse that. Those reasons you gave are NOT the only real reasons.

So to grow the game of RL it requires a fully enclosed stadium. Hmm doesn't seem to worry the Gold Coast, Brisbane or Sydney audiences.

Oh yes it does! The sooner they fix Allianz up for a start the better! I don't know about Suncorp or the Titans home but I'll bet Suncorp's pretty good given it pulls better than most.

So why did the storms crowd figures drop by 2k per game when they went from Olympic park in 2000 to Etihad in 2001?

How so?

You realise most AFL teams and fans prefer the MCG. The costs at Etihad are far higher. yet you think theyd have higher crowds there....

From a Turnover, media exposure and sponserships persective i think its very possible for Parramata to be 'the biggest' club in australia. From a club membership and attendance perspective i cannot see Parramatta being the biggest club in the forseeable future. The supporter culture will need to change dramatically before we'd even notice Parramatta making small inroads into Collingwood and any other AFL clubs member and attendance figures....

Collingwoods turnover this year would be near $80 Million. The Broncos are the nRLs richest club and have a yearly revenue near $20M. How are the eels ever going to approach Collingwood? :-k

the Broncos turn over 30m dollars plus a year .. in their Football Dept alone
they do not include their gaming revenue

Collinsknob .... do

in fact no NRL club includes their leagues clubs gaming revenue
all VFL clubs include theirs

if NRL clubs did include all their revenue ( Panthers Leagues turns over 80m a year ) ..... they wouldn't just be on par with VFL clubs
they'd be well ahead

its just another smoke & mirrors .. all is not what it seems .. w@nk .... by the VFL

Link?

Yeah, thats why some NRL clubs cant even pay for a CEO, have no major sponsor and cant even pay staff superannuation. They also play and train in debilitated holes while the AFL teams upgrade their facilities regularly.

heres some Sydney NRL Leagues clubs turnover.
Canterbury Leagues club (Canterbury Bulldogs) turnover is $70 million a year, Parramatta Leagues Club (Parramatta Eels) turnover is $43 million a year and Panthers Group (Penrith Panthers) has a tunover of $152 million a year.

Heres a link with some of that info

Collingwoods "non-gaming" revenue for 2011 was over $55million. This included 22M from marketing and sponsorship, and 16M from memberships. Both those last figures are more than almost all nRL clubs total yearly revenue including income they draw from their leagues club.

http://www.brw.com.au/p/sections/featur ... mr1mCr2kOP
the Bulldogs got $4 million (about one-quarter of total revenue) from its co-branded leagues club last year.
So the Bulldogs earned 12M without gaming revenue, less than 1/4 of Collingwoods non-gaming revenue

I dont dissagree with you that collingwood is the biggest club in terms of turnover (without gameing revenue) currently, but i do think that the Parramatta Eels have huge potential to be the biggest earning club in regards to sponsership and marketing dollars when considering... Parramatta's located In the 3rd largest economy in OZ which has a population larger than Brisbane and Perth, and the Eels play Rugby League which dominates airtime in the countries only true global city.

marcus .. spitting the dummy when ol RD is proven right ..... again

NRL clubs that can't even pay for a CEO ... :?
thats one club D head .... Cronulla

& again .... your brain dead notion that turnover equals wealth .. is exposed as the utter BS it is
the Cronulla Leagues club doesn't do that well ...
smaller membership base .. smaller patronage ... smaller profits .. smaller grant.. or no grant at all..... to its Football club
but hey .... 25 million in Leagues club revenue still .. added to the 10 million football revenue is 35 Million all up ..... more then half of the VFL clubs in Melbourne

when will you learn something about finance & money

The difference is these teams actually only earn about $15M or less without gaming costs/revenue. They only get a few million revenue from these leagues clubs. There is no point them including the revenue from these clubs because the major proportion of it goes straight back into the running of these clubs,

This leaves them with only $15M to spend on their sports facilities, football departments, and associated costs etc. The AFL clubs have $30-50M to spend on their facilities, and operating costs.
