X, Raid is going on and on like a leaking tap, but it's true. The AFL did squat about the issues he brought up, and they should have. Who gives a crap if Dermie isn't employed by them. That twat at Jaycar isn't either!

Both codes should have act/should act. How about you admit that instead of defending your code like it's all sugar and spice? Like that article said, boys will be boys and the code is not even a factor in that! Are you saying that there are more hormones running around in league? I'd just about take that as a big thumbs up for us!
So exactly what can the AFL do about Dermie? :-k

The Bulldogs could drop Jaycar, like the Demons dropped Energy Watch after their CEO made racist comments.

So the code is a factor. The AFL have acted on things like this that are in their control. The NRL have not. Remember the racist issues around SOO this year? where wass the action then? The AFL acted swiftly when a single Collingwood fan made racist comments. These NSW SOO fans got off scott free.
nRL need all the fans they can get. If they began banning people who make racist/offensive comments they would have no fans.

hey spewie
how long is your ban from LU champ
are there scratch marks up & down your walls yet ?

I've never understood why anyone would actually want to post to LU, the place is an utter toilet. You've got El Diablo, a mod that revels in the deaths of victorian bushfire victims, and ridicules John Macarthy, Doc Brown, a 'television industry insider' who lives in Newcastle - the very heart of the Australian television industry - who when exposed to have been lying for the better part of two years, chucks a tanty about not caring what strangers on the internet think of him. There's the delusion of Perth Red, who is convinced that a Perth NSWRL team will generate television ratings of around 180k in Perth (that's higher than the Eagles btw), and the other crew of inmates who I genuinely think dislike Australian Football more than they like their own 'sport'.

Then of course there's more emoticon-infused posts from our own Raiderdave, a man who - as i've alluded to in previous posts - is functionally ********.

I hope for Stewie's sanity the ban is permanent.

Nice summary. You need to throw our own dummy spitter ParaEelsNrl in though. He's a classic too. And Flapper and EA are basket cases too!

Dermie is not an employee of the AFL, nor a sponsor. but lets be frank, his actions were not in the same league as recent nrl behaviour. His comments were more of a personal insult than anything.

An investigation into Canterbury's Mad Monday saga has reached a conclusion, with the Australian Rugby League and the Bulldogs saying that obscene comments heard from a window at Belmore Sports Ground were not directed towards a female reporter positioned outside.
In a joint statement the Bulldogs, the losing grand finalists nine days ago, said they would contribute $30,000 to a nominated charity as a result of their "contrition" over their handling of celebrations at their Belmore base the next day.
However, they declined to name any players or staff as having made the comments, broadcast by Channel Nine, and said that they were not directed at the network's reporter, Jayne Azzopardi, who was with a crew outside the venue.

Canterbury said the comments were made as part of sledging between players and had been misinterpreted as abuse of a female journalist.

“After completing a thorough investigation, I am now aware of every comment made," Bulldogs chief executive Todd Greenberg said.
"I am aware of every person that comments were attributed to and the context in which those comments were made. The players and staff have all been forthcoming with the information and honest in their discussions.

Jayne Azzopardi.
“It is clear that there were a number of inaccuracies in the media reporting but the players are gutted and are deeply concerned that language used within the room has been interpreted as having been directed to the media.
“There was a lot of sledging going on between the players and they used language that was inappropriate.
“This is something that the whole club, the players and administration, have to take responsibility for and that is why the whole club will make a contribution to an NRL nominated charity.
“It would not be helpful or fair to single any one name out and it can only produce a result that will be disproportionate with the actions of any individual."
ARLC interim chief executive Shane Mattiske said the management of the post grand final function was "inappropriate".
“Regardless of arguments about who the statements were directed towards the language used was offensive, threatening and open to interpretation by anyone in hearing range," Mattiske said.
“We accept that the club has recognised this and their contribution to a nominated charity partner demonstrates a suitable outcome for all parties.”
Greenberg agreed the Bulldogs could have handled the episode better and regretted damage to the club's brand.

What a farce!

First they make comments through a window towards someone outside. as clear as day.

Then they get their major sponsor to defend these comments saying females should expect comments like these as normal behaviour. They also say it was her fault for being in the area.

Then they take a week to investigate a single matter.

Now they deny it was even directed at her despite defending that it was earlier.

Now they are asking for ch9 to apologise.

They are also keeping their major sponsor despite its leaders pathetic defence and attitude.

NRL, you've done it again! #-o

Firstly, the media was the one canning them. We just joined in.

Second, the other points I mentioned are still relevant.

Manly say they will prepare a report for the NRL after rookie winger Jorge Taufua was charged with serious assault on the Gold Coast.
Taufua has been banned from licensed premises in Queensland after allegedly spitting at a police officer in the early hours of this morning.

More nRL controversy involving acts against women.
Sydney Roosters NRL player Joseph "BJ" Leilua has been given a one-year good behaviour bond for sending a naked photo of his ex-girlfriend to her brother and her best friend.

Earlier on Wednesday, Leilua was cleared of assaulting the woman at a South Sydney hotel.

However, Downing Centre Local Court magistrate Carolyn Barkell found Leilua guilty of using an iPhone in an offensive way.

Leilua had sent the naked photo of Cee-Jay Silbery to her brother and her best friend after he heard she was seeing another man.

The offence carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison.

Magistrate Barkell told the court the photograph was clearly offensive.

"The accused, angered at what he thought was his girlfriend's unfaithfulness, sent her brother and her best friend a photograph of her genitals in order to make her sad," she said.

"It was an extraordinary hurtful thing to her brother and her best friend."

Prosecutor Rick Mansley told the court the fact that Leilua had sent the photo to a family member made "it even worse".

"In my submission what you have in front of you is grossly offensive," he said.

Leilua was dealt with under Section 19B in relation to the charge, meaning there is no conviction recorded but the incident remains on his record.

He was ordered to pay $500 for his good behaviour bond and will return to court if the 12-month bond is broken.

Earlier, Magistrate Barkell dismissed six of seven charges against Leilua, including four assault charges and two charges of breaching an AVO.

The charges related to an alleged incident involving Ms Silbery and her friend at the Allawah Hotel in Sydney's southern suburbs on May 26 this year.

Ms Silbery failed to turn up to court on Wednesday despite being subpoenaed to give evidence about the assault.
Given her absence, prosecutor Rick Mansley conceded there was not sufficient evidence to convict Leilua over the alleged assaults against her or breaches of AVOs.
