nice try nrl but no cigar

excellent figures in Melbourne, but not surprising given Melbourne's love of sport and the time slot is far more viewer friendly than saturday afternoon.
very poor figures for Sydney though.

previous NRL GFs get around 1.1M regionals. The only reason this game got near the SOO metro figures is because of Melbourne's figures which were 400k up on normal. Otherwise it was probably quite low in comparison to other NRL GFs. Sydneys figures were the lowest for a number of years and for this reason id say the regionals wont be more than normal. Therefore around 3.6M max.piesman2011 wrote:Good figues should get about 4 million maybe a little less if you go by the SOO results. Excellent figures for Melbourne would be interesting to see what an AFL grandfinal could do at twilight or at night.
They are great figures in Melbourne......Well done melbourne you are not as insular as made out to be, good job on supporting your team.piesman2011 wrote:Good figues should get about 4 million maybe a little less if you go by the SOO results. Same can be said for the Swans ratings in Sydney, so please stop with the excuses already...Xman wrote:previous NRL GFs get around 1.1M regionals. I wasnt making excuses at all. The NRL figures in Melbourne were excellent, but overall the figures were down in Sydney by nearly 20% on other years. My point was you cannot simply look at the SOO metro figures and extrapolate the expected regionals because a large proportion of the metro figures for the GF were from Melbourne, where as the SOO was predominantly Syd and QLD.eelofwest wrote:Same can be said for the Swans ratings in Sydney, so please stop with the excuses already...Xman wrote:previous NRL GFs get around 1.1M regionals. 1.1m so you mean to tell me that the NRL which shits over AFL in regional Aus is going to get the same amount of regionals as the AFL...Please i will go with Pies on this and say we will get close to 4million all up.
So all in all the NRL has 4 ratings programs in or about the 4m mark and the AFL has 1.........NRL domination.. =D>
1.3m regional is the highest in the last 5 years and the metro audience was updated so my prediction was 250k off. However I think youll agree its still 200k lower than the AFL GF despite being on Sunday, in prime time and a shorter telecast.eelofwest wrote:Sun TV NRL GF #NRLCBYMEL updates: Metro 2,551,000 Regional 1,316,000 Total 3,867,000 (Best since 2006) Nine
See close to 4 million as Pies said.
You were predicting 3.5m......
3,867,000 and we are still waiting on NZ ratings which will push it above or on par with the AFL.
