Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
I think that 3.2 million is just the highest number ie the presentation. I think in a few days they will revise the total watching the GF hopefully up above 3 million.

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
Im curious, I watched the game on Foxtel Ch7 in other words I watched the Ch7 through the foxtel box. I am wondering if those sort of ratings would have been counted? (I dont have a Oztam box so i know mine wouldnt have mattered). I am also curious about the T box numbers? Could you watch the GF though the T box? I assume there will be a revision in the next few days which comes up with final numbers and national ratings as well. Maybe the Tbox numbers (and others) get included in this final number.

Dont you find it a little bit embarrassing that people were keener to watch the presentation then the game itself?

No, because the presentation was extremely short so the average was always going to be higher.pussycat wrote:Dont you find it a little bit embarrassing that people were keener to watch the presentation then the game itself?

apparantly there was actually 750k viewers in sydney alone and over 1.4m viewers in melbourne, but that might have been from the presentationsYep, 3.2m is a huge result, far higher than last year, and vindicates the increase in overall AFL ratings this year, including the increase due to foxtel. =D>The numbers for the AFL Grand Final hit a staggering 3.2m viewers yesterday.
They top the preliminary 3.1m for The Voice: The Winner Announced (but it reached 3.23m with Timeshifted data). It was nearly a record for the football -the highest rated AFL Grand Final since OzTAM began was 3.39m in 2005.
Seven tactfully divided the match into separate portions with the Presentations at 3.19m, and the bulk of the match still on a whopping 2.93m viewers. There were 1.4m viewers in Melbourne alone and another 740,000 in Sydney -not including clubs, pubs and restaurants.
How do you work that out ? No significant increase anywhere but Sydney. I would put that down to the Swans involvement. Down 4 years straight in Melbourne.

The presentation rating shows the audience that tuned in to watch the last quarter and continued on to watch the presentation.pussycat wrote:Dont you find it a little bit embarrassing that people were keener to watch the presentation then the game itself?

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
because the Foxtel ratings only add 200-500k extra viewers over the entire country, which includes metro and regional. So some of those will be in spread over the metro figures, and some over the regionals. So each city may only be 30-40k more.pussycat wrote:Xman wrote:QueenslandISAFL wrote:http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2012/09/3-2 ... final.html

Of course Melbourne is down. Theres been 2 Melbourne teams in each of the last 4 GFs and Collingwood or Hawthorn have been in a number.

MORE than five million people across Australia were watching when Nick Malceski helped seal the Sydney Swans’ premiership over Hawthorn at the MCG.
The Seven Network's exclusive live telecast peaked at 5.084 million as the siren neared, with an average national audience of 4.053 million over the course of the game.
Seven said at least six million Australians tuned in for at least some part of the game, that's more than a quarter of the nation's population.
In Sydney, the grip of NRL Grand Final preparations did nothing to prevent attention turning to the rival code of AFL.
Seven's match broadcast in the New South Wales premier's home town peaked at 795,000.
The game was most watched in Melbourne, with a peak audience of 1.574 million, averaging out at about 1.3 million viewers.
The ratings result sees the AFL Grand Final eclipse rugby league's state of origin as the most watched football game on Australian television so far this year.
The best rating sport, and Saturday afternoon beat Wednesday prime time.

Wow. I didnt think it could be that high! Doubt the NRL could reach those numbers even if it's played on a Sunday night.
Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
