so the poor old VFL had to change their system .. giving the lower ranked side a distinct advantage & a far smaller crowd will show up ... on the much less desirable Friday Night ... because of peak hour traffic ..., late night shopping ..& interstate fans unable to travel on a Friday
its definetly the booby prize
Look us AFL fans unlike you lot, are passionate about our game and we will attend in huge numbers whatever the day/night. !!

Swan V Collingwood or WCE could get 80K, in 2003 they got 85K will be interesting hopefully the weather is good so there are no excuses if the crowd is poor.

Keep your pathetic excuses for low crowds to yourselves. You lot are the ones that need the excuses week in week out to try to explain the lack of passion in your so called fans that results in such abysmal crowds week after week, even in finals.

Meanwhile, Friday night preliminary final weekend tv ratings should be interesting.

Sydney vs Collingwood / West Coast

vs

Melbourne vs Manly / North Queensland

Which game will the people of Sydney tune in to?

Ah ...if its Melbourne V Manly in the NRL it will attract .... 600K plus Sydney veiwers alone
if its the Cowboys it might be 450K with no sydney side involved
the Swines against .. well anyone who they play it won't matter .. up against the afore mentioned NRL at the same time on TV
it won't get to 100K

I can see bearsy cheering for the Cowboys on Friday already

Swans V Collingwood/WCE could rate 1.8 million + nationally it should destroy any competition on friday week. With a melbourne V cowboys game on it could get 200-300K on FTA from sydney alone and get 450k+ on foxtel.

it won't attract 100K up against the NRL
won't matter who is on in the NRL ..

& our final on Sat night if its the Dogs n Bunnies will destroy everything that weekend ..
VFL takes silver again
I can see Bearsy & Marcus cheering for the Raiders this weekend

no VFL crowd has ever got near 80,000 let alone 85,000 in Sydney

had help from many many thousands of toothless bogans from Melbourne & it was a Sat Night

Pity I didn't see this earlier or I could have called BS on the pieman.

But I am sure there would have been a mysterious email confirming that there was actually people at every door and counted the mob and the actual figure was 85000 not the reported 72,393.

Or the other favorite get out of jail card "it was in my opinion".

I would like to think that I can admit when I am wrong. I thought that the Swans had a big crowd of 85K (I thought I read it some where) in the 2003 prelim but I was wrong. Hopefully the Swans get a huge crowd next weekend.

I'm sure you would admit that you where wrong and you did pieman unlike others here. You have to remember we deal with facts here. Facts that can be verified and need to be verified when called upon to do so except of cause when you are part of the "in crowd".

Yup, I will appreciate that sydney swans can do that.

Recently Swans have won an extraordinary rollercoaster of a Grand Final, defeating Hawthorn by 10 points in wintry conditions at the MCG on Saturday. With 99,683 people watching on, the Swans were 28 points up early in the third quarter, fell 12 points behind during the final term, then prevailed 14.7 (91) to 11.15 (81). =D>

where did i say they have no support? But just like all NRL clubs, support rarely translates to decent crowds. This game was a one off which is pretty clear given it was the highest attendance for a home and away NRL game in Sydney for decades. That speaks volumes.

thanks for showing us the decline in Swines crowds over the last 6 years... how disturbing it must be :-k
the lowest average since 1995

oh & ..... the Swines 2007 average was 35,632.... by themselves
in 2012.... with the Swines top 4 all year & going on to win this years sub standard comp ...& another new side in town that cost the VFL 40 million this year alone to set up ...the combined average of the 2 sides was 35,554... 8-[

so thats ... 35,632 for 1 side
&
35,554 for ..... 2 :?>

ahhhhhh...... thats a different way to .. grow your business .. isn't it #-o
