It was more than twice what they paid last time. And I'm unsure but didnt the nrl decide the schedule?

Channel 9 have insisted the broncos are shown every fn much to the disgust of all other teams. They also demanded the GF go back to Sunday night which fans complained about last time.

CH9 made it clear they control the schedule.

I don't think a tick ova a Billion has us too far off where we should be from next year
but continued growth in ratings .. a 4th mainland capital city into our stable with all the extra flexibility in coverage times over here as a result .. & games on TV every week in Brisbane will see us have the biggest TV deal of any sport in the land from 2018.

there was a time I believed the NRL would not match the AFL deal & would secure just over 1 billion
thats split up with all the bells & whistles added

now I believe the NRL will get the biggest deal in Australian TV History

I'm happy and confident that this one's an open and closed case. A simple comparison of players and names on AFL and NRL team lists shows which code is more multicultural. I look forward to eels providing some more of the data to blast tlpg's crumby and infactual wiki link out of the water.

"I think everyone has to understand this is great for the game, but in Queensland they want to watch Queensland teams and in the Sydney they want to watch the Sydney teams.

"If we start putting two games against each other, you end up shrinking your audience.

"I sit here unapologetically ... when you pay this sort of money to have the games, you actually have to put the programming into slots you can commercialise."
Gyngell said exclusivity gave the network the right to delay games.

"I think one thing you need to take out of it is this is an exclusive sports right deal," he said.

Gyngell was unapologetic over his demands, adding he would like the Broncos to play every single Friday night because it sold best in Queensland.

Hmmm, "we demand the Broncos play every night because we now own the game!" is about as blatant as you can get!

Given its their only live FTA game each week the Broncos will get 24 live FTA games and all the lesser teams like panthers, sharks, raiders etc will get few if any. Given the massive advantage in FTA exposure if you dont think thnis is a huge deal yourre dumber than I first thought.

There won't be any. This is because you can't go anywhere near the 53 countries that have a connection with the AFL and the VFL prior to 1990. At present there is only evidence of 27 in the NRL.

I'm not shaking in my boots at all. You are, because you can't come up with any evidence that proves that the NRL has had any more than 27 countries represented in it. And deep down you know it. If you are so confident that more than 53 countries have been represented in the NRL over the years/decades, then let's see it. Same rules as the Wikipedia article has for the AFL players.
