Re: NRL TV Deal
Let's deal with some facts here.Over the 5 years the expansion clubs will cost around 60 to 100 million as tv revenue is not even 50% of all revenue it is easily covered. You haven't got 2.275 most pundits saying under 2.2. Seems that you now have Sunday night games as well as mondays a proven crowd disaster. Expansion is the last thing on there minds this deal proves this and as far as the next deal is concerned you have it all wrong. The AFL will become its own broadcaster we are 10 years ahead on this one just ask Roy masters.

Re: NRL TV Deal
NZ SKY money is 14million a year atm, should be able to get 20million per year. And the internet rights should garner about 150million.
That is how i came to 1.275million for broadcast money King.

Re: NRL TV Deal
Here's another reality check. The only reason Nine, Foxtel and News Limited relinquished the claim to first and last rights was because of the lack of competition. Nine wanted it thinking that it would allow them to fight the ratings war with Seven (which they are losing and AFL is part of the reason) from within NSW and QLD regionals as well as metro Sydney and Brisbane. On those terms they knew Seven and Ten wouldn't be interested, and just to make sure they overpaid. So of course they let the first and last rights claim go. Because they knew Seven and Ten would thumb their nose at it.
The deal is a joke because it's not truly nationwide. Nine doesn't care about Melbourne in this respect. Ditto Adelaide and Perth. That's their folly. And if it's a tactic to get people to the games it will fail.
I'm still waiting for some one to tell me what they're going to spend the money on!

Re: NRL TV Deal
And if you compare apples with apple's the Nrl were offered 800 best they could get without basically selling the game and this would've been less if ten had to simulcast as well. So it would seem the market has spoken.

You idiot now that they have gotten as much money as they could they will now put in place how they will spend it.TLPG wrote:Here's another reality check. Btw Seven and Ten were serious about these negotiations.

NEGOTIATIONS over the rugby league television rights have heated up, with representatives of the Nine, Seven, Ten and Fox networks making critically important presentations to the league on Friday followed by further talks via the telephone over the weekend.
According to television industry insiders, Channel Seven is making a strong run at taking the free-to-air rights away from long-time holder Channel Nine in the new deal.
''Seven would be the favourite at the moment,'' one insider told the Herald. ''Nine would be the underdog, but don't write them off. They're still in this battle. Seven have the shareholders with the deep pockets, but Nine still has the advantage of the first and last rights agreement.''

Re: NRL TV Deal
Boy that reporter is a big believer in hype! Stokes was nowhere near the mark in the end, otherwise why would Nine at least give up the first and last claim rights? I'll tell you why - because Seven wasn't a threat. Neither was Ten, who from that report were only on board as a partner to Seven, and not a sole bidder. And that was never going to work as the previous AFL deal to the current one proves beyond a shadow of a doubt!
Seven and Ten serious? Pfft!!

Signs of thing to come for fans in AFL expansion Area's
Titans make kids memberships free in 2013
Adam Gardini
Wednesday 22 August 2012 9:20 AM
The Jetstar Gold Coast Titans have today launched an innovative new membership structure for season 2013 which will see the club offer free kids memberships to children still at school.
Jetstar Titans Chief Executive Officer David May today announced a revamped membership structure for next season which is designed to make Titans matches more affordable for gold coast families.
The key components of the new-look Titans memberships for season 2013 are:
* Reduced prices across the board;
* Free Junior membership when combined with a paying adult;
* An increase of the Junior age from 12 years to include all children still at school, including high school.
* An upgrade of the ‘Sand’ membership category to the ‘Steel’ membership category;
* The removal of the ‘Club’ membership;
* A change to the 4 Game Flexi membership. In 2013, 4 Game Flexi Members will have the ability to choose from three sets of 4 Games, nominated by the Club on release of the 2013 draw.
May said the decision to make kids memberships free for season 2013 was based purely on making Titans games more accessible and more affordable for Gold Coast families.
“One of the main messages we have received in speaking with Titans fans in the last few weeks, is that families are doing it tougher than anyone else - so we felt it was time to make some changes to our pricing structure,’’ said May.
“By making kids memberships free, it's our way of helping to ease the pressure on families that love their rugby league but have been restricted by economic factors in the past.
“We also heard that our supporters wanted us to increase the age of ‘juniors’. So we've included all school children, including those in high school, as there are lots of kids still living at home over the age of 12 that regularly attend the football with their parents.’’
May said the club’s launch of a more affordable membership pricing structure in the same week that the Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) announced a fixed match schedule in the game’s new billion dollar broadcast rights provided a major windfall for all Titans fans.
“Fixed game scheduling and price were two of the biggest issues that fans have spoken to us about - so the fact that both have been addressed for season 2013 is a win-win situation for Titans fans,’’ said May.
Under the new membership structure there are savings for fans right across the board, headlined by a reduction of more than $500 for a family of 4 Titanium membership.

Re: NRL TV Deal
Yep, the kids in this area will need free membership. After all, non will be able to see the Titans live on FTA since the broncos have that sewn up for 5 years.
Yet all the GC suns supporters can watch the Suns live on FTA TV every game.
Yep, good deal alright! HAHAHAHAAHA

Re: NRL TV Deal
NRL deal
Good deal for the game financially short term
Good deal to get rid of the First and last rights
Good deal (not great) for Vic, SA, WA and Tas viewers
Good for players (big pay increase comming) They will fight hard to more then double their average salary
Schedule not as fixed? Better then before I think
Bad deal for the FTA TV watchers in NSW, Qld (unless Broncos supporter)
Sun evening is bad for the Crowds
Night Grand final is bad for the kids
AFL deal
Good financially
Good for the TV viewers generally 3 Live FTA (all games live)
Excelent for Viewers outside Vic (all local games live FTA)
Good for families (more Sat arvo games, no sunday night/monday night regular games)
Bad for crowds (more live games means less people going)
Feel free to add more if you got them.

Re: NRL TV Deal
We also have more junior footy Pies.
1. Queensland Cup matches on Nine
2. Three non-NRL matches each week played in conjunction with the Telstra Premiership game (which will be shared between Toyota Cup, NSW Cup and GIO Schoolboys Cup).
3. 4 Nations Tournement which will rate well in AUS if shown at a decent hour.
4. The Roosters-Dragons Anzac Day matches.
5. Two hours of rugby league content each evening on digital Channel 94 plus two hours of content on Saturday and Sunday morning. =D>
6. The first 20 rounds of the premiership will be scheduled in advance of the season. last 6 rounds schedule at round 16, crowds will certainly rise next year with a fixed schedule meaning more money for clubs.
7. Another Show on Fox.
8. NINE, FOX, NEW LTD all relinquished there first and last rights.
With the AFL deal leaking 400million over the life of the contract due to GWS, SUNS, and now Port lol i think it is safe to say NRL tv deal trumps AFL deal financially.
AFL deal trumps NRL deal with Coverage for fans ill give you that one Pies.
The NRL have expansion to offer next TV deal when the expansion teams are ready, BTW expansion is not off the table yet wait and see for more details of the TV deal.
We also have NZ which by the way is our trump Card going into the future.
Question is What has the AFL got left to offer the Networks China?

Re: NRL TV Deal
Some of the vFL boys here are absolute idiots.
The only RL people complaining about the deal are the fuckwits who don't have a clue.
I don't care that 10 missed out now simply because the first and last rights have been killed off, if the nRL went with any other, they probably would've been stuck with F n L garbage until 2027. Getting rid of that was the single biggest thing the ARLC done.
All the vFL fans saying the deal is hopeless are full of shit or butthurt, maybe both, all the RL fans complaining are complete and utter morons.

Your TV covereage has been upgraded from horrible to horrible. You as a RL fan can watch 3 more live games a week of AFL than NRL and you live in NRL heartland. My mate, a storm supporter, will be left with maybe 3 live storm games a week on FTA and maybe only 6 on FTA at all.
Nice deal!

NRL fans are complaining loud and clear on LU and other media. Youre just barely keeping it together mate. Need a hug?
