Look at Browney last year, he nearly died 3 times from head knocks.
But I see your point, AFL gets more leg injuries cause they run more.

Pete, I'm willing to bet that Browney's issues are small change compared to thugby players.

LEADING AFL medico Dr Peter Larkins says the facial injuries of Brisbane Lions captain Jonathan Brown are consistent with a car crash victim and are some of the worst he has seen in the game.

But Dr Larkins expects Brown to make a full recovery and be playing football in eight to 10 weeks. Brown was rushed to hospital on Saturday night after he was accidentally kneed in the head during Brisbane's two-point loss to Fremantle at the Gabba.
He underwent three hours of delicate reconstructive surgery on Monday to fix the eight breaks around his eye socket, jaw and cheekbone.
Dr Larkins said the extensive damage was similar to that suffered by Essendon star James Hird in 2002 and Lions player Shaun Hart in 2004.
"At the time, people said their injuries were like car crash victims and Jono (Brown) is certainly in that same category," he said.
"It's one of the worst I've seen. The swelling in his face is consistent with a high-velocity multiple fracture that you only see in the worst (crashes).
"In footy, you just don't have injuries like that every season. We haven't had too many people with that level of injury.
"But I am expecting him to be back to normal at the end of it, which is the good news."
A confronting image of Brown from his hospital bed was aired on Fox Sports program On the Couch on Monday night.
Dr Larkins said the picture told a thousand painful words.
"It was horrific, but that's what you expect. It's standard stuff in a way," he said.
"You'd suggest he is going to have multiple titanium plates with screws.
"The black eye is consistent with a fracture in the eye socket, the swelling in the cheekbone and into the side of the nose was consistent with a fracture in the bone that connects your nose to the top of your teeth.
"Multiple other fractures through the sinuses means it is certainly a six-week minimum (before he plays football again) . . . but it will be less than 10 weeks."
Dr Larkins said overcoming the mental barrier from such an injury was unlikely to be an issue for Brown, 29, who is regarded as the toughest player in the competition.
"We normally say that players take a while to get their confidence back . . . but I don't think that will be a problem with Jono," he said. "He'll be chomping at the bit in a month or so." Dr Larkins said Brown had to ensure his vision was good and that all pain had left his face before contemplating a comeback

I believe such injuries are not uncommon in thugby. It's the nature of the game.

High speed contact is part of league? It's more freaking common in AFL, TL!
Re: RL more dangerous than mining and quarrying study finds
Oh what rot! It happens all the time in thugby because that's the nature of the "game"! It only happens occasionally in AFL, and in fact Jonathon Brown was criticised for his play that got him hurt IIRC.

No I don't. If you think I have, don't question me. Question the study originators.

So serious injuries are worse than general injuries, we both agree on that. Now death, that's pretty serious. There where deaths (3 in Qld alone) in mining. How many where there in Rugby League. If you match my three in mining with three in Rugby League I will add the other states.
So which is more dangerous.
