Options for a lopsided comp
Re: Options for a lopsided comp
Eel, Brisbane's win over Adelaide was no fluke. Are you suggesting that the Crows tanked?? The Bulldogs, as Xman rightly pointed out, have been competitive. Let's double check those flogging claims;
1. GWS 15 Floggings - no, 13 based on margins
2. GCS 9 Floggings - no, 8
3. WBD 7 Floggings - this one you actuallly got right
4. Mel 6 Floggings - no, 4
5. BRI 6 Floggings - no, 4
But wait, there have been other floggings as well;
Adelaide over Carlton in Round 7
Carlton over Collingwood in Round 3
St.Kilda over Essendon in Round 15
Geelong over Essendon in Round 17
Hawthorn over Essendon in Round 18
Carlton over Essendon this past weekend - oh look! Essendon have been flogged as many times as Melbourne!!
Need I say more?

Re: Options for a lopsided comp
Considering TLPG has been caught lying frequently of late, I think Eels data would be much more correct. I'd consider 10goals a flogging. Eels how did you define a flogging in your research?

Floggings are part of a high scoring game. They do not indicate if a team is competitive, they indicate if they are inconsistent!
Saying Brisbanes win over the Crows was a fluke is ridiculous. What about their win over the Eagles?

Re: Options for a lopsided comp
Since when is 42 points a flogging?
Since when is 38 points a flogging?
Or even 47?
As I said, floggings arent uncommon and happen to even the best teams. Its more about consistent performance than anything. Look at Essendon. Theyve flogged teams and also been flogged.

Re: Options for a lopsided comp
Look I have to admit that Eel is overdoing it. Anything under 60 points isn't a flogging unless the losing scores is super low. Boring yes and that's the real ratpoo that AFL represents. A flogging no.
Lopsided? Abso-freaking-lutely!

Re: Options for a lopsided comp
Blimey! Striker's right about the 60 points! Now I'm worried! Boring however is a rubbish comment.
Eel, every single margin you have there that is under 10 goals (60 points) is NOT a flogging. Do not claim otherwise.

Re: Options for a lopsided comp
I think we'll find though that the 40 odd point floggings Eels have listed account for teams letting sides like GWs back into it once they've already belted them by half time. I also recall a brissy match which Xman said was close because it was around 40points difference but the amount of inside 50s the lions got in the game was the lowest ever recorded and the amount of behinds their opponent kicked was astronomical. Hence a clear flogging in anyones eyes. The least inside 50s ever says it all really.
So im quite happpy with eels research.

Re: Options for a lopsided comp
Yet again, KE shows how little he understands football. A flogging is judged on the scoreboard - and nowhere else. If a team isn't converting that's just bad luck, or good defence by their opponents. If a team isn't getting the ball inside their attacking 50, that's also good defence by their opponents. Nothing to do with the other end of the ground.
Eel's research is total bunk and biased as anything, and contains a complete lack of understanding of the game as well.

I'm sorry TLPG but your minimalist assessment is trash and it makes you look like you know less about footy.

Re: Options for a lopsided comp
Wow this research really tells us the difference Eels. And honestly the NRL this season has been a bit lopsided too but sheesh when compared to the AFL we can clearly see the AFL comp this year is most likely the most lopsided professional comp australians have ever viewed...
