Perhaps a rare fair point for you there Xman. Well done. It seems as though you have acknonwledged that the competition is lopsided to billio this season.

One down, TLPG to go. [-o<

the bottom end is lopsided more than previous season. The rest of the comp is more even than any season I can remember. =D>

Lopsided competitions are judged over several years, not just one year. New sides (and I think I've said this before) are always going to struggle - except in exceptional circumstances (examples West Coast and Adelaide). To call that a major crisis like KE is doing is completely ignoring the bigger picture.

So I'll go back to the OP and say - keep things going the way they are going. There is nothing major to worry about. If we worried about every minor problem we'd end up in a psych ward.

I'd argue that the bottom end is more lopsided than ive seen in any professional competition in the world. There have been so many games which are basically over before they begin this season. Yes on the flip side the top half has been interesting but thats because there really is only 11 or 12 teams who have had a shot at actually making the 8. Of course its going to be close.

It is quite a serious issue and I would hope the head honchos down at AFL HQ dont turn a blind eye to it like Xman and TLPG. Maybe it'll get better over time but I'm not so sure.

You're blowing it out of proportion as usual, KE. Out of the 18 clubs, 14 at least have been in with a shot for a large part of the season. The two you underestimate are Brisbane and the Bulldogs. They are in transistion. Port Adelaide will soon resolve their money issues. Melbourne will recover as well.

There's nothing to worry about, and that's a fact.

If you think there's so much of a crisis, write to the AFL and express those concerns and demand action. Go on, I dare you.

No I meant that 13 and 14 had a chance until they were unable to make the eight statistically - which was around the time of the byes IIRC. Note also that one of your so called "basketcases" beat a top four side this weekend!

They knew it would happen. Everyone knew it would happen. 3-4 years of this will put the AFL in a great position going forward. :D

There are 6 teams way of the pace and have been of the pace all season, imo 12 out of 18 could win from the start.

Which 6? The suns yes. The giants yes. Power? well they beat Hawthorn but probably yes now theyve lost their coach. Bulldogs? nope Theyve been competitive in many games and won 5. Lions? nope. They just beat Adelaide and also beat westcoast, 2 teams fighting for top four.

So there are probably 4 teams that are struggling big time. Two of which are brand new.

But every league has bottom sides that struggle against most opposition. This year the AFL have 2 more than normal. Their young and talented lists will ensure this only happens temporarily.

Why the drama?

No there's six sides that have had abysmal seasons. Citing one or two very odd lucky wins here and there makes no difference to their performance over the 22 rounds Xman. Abysmal, it was a 12 horse race from round 4 on this season and i agree it made for an exciting battle for the 8. Perhaps the AFL should think of culling six sides, then we'd have this battle every year eh Xman?

To put it in perspective, Parra are last on the table in the NRL with 6 wins and the 5 bottom teams in the AFL are all below that with brisbane.

The VFL
13 Brisbane 19 7 0 12 85.11 28
14 Port Adelaide 19 5 0 14 78.54 20
15 Bulldogs 19 5 0 14 69.67 20
16 Melbourne 19 3 0 16 67.70 12
17 Gold Coast 19 2 0 17 60.77 8
18 Greater Western Sydney 19 2 0 17 45.81 8

1. GWS 15 Floggings
2. GCS 9 Floggings
3. WBD 7 Floggings
4. Mel 6 Floggings
5. BRI 6 Floggings

All these teams never had a chance of making the 8.

Essendon has had 3 floggings in 5 weeks. Are they included?

Yes there are teams that are no chance of making the 8. Are the eels or the panthers?

Whats the issue? As I said, every league has bottom teams.

Look at the RL WC. Out of how many nations, only 2 can realistically win the thing. Now that is what I call lopsided!
