Yeah, all that list does is show that RL is dominated by a small ethnic group. Obviously there are many opportunities for All the other ethnic groups in Australia to play ARs.

King-Eliagh: ...I believe [RL] is popular in all the other states and territories, bar tasmania.

You learn something new every day. I didn't realise that England was a different ethnic background. But seriously good on the NRL for promoting multiculturalism, this can only be a good thing for Australia.

Well we all know the history of how Australia came to be Pies, but Pies most of us did Geography in School and came to the realization that England is on the other side of the World.....piesman2011 wrote:You learn something new every day. Re: NRL and multiculturalism, Player Rosters tell the Story
I would have thought that most common background for Australians would have been an English ethnic background (if not directly then indirectly). Hence my comment.eelofwest wrote:NRL players with different ethnic backgrounds.
In the Australian Census residents are asked to describe their ancestry, in which up to two could be nominated. Proportionate to the Australian resident population, the most commonly nominated ancestries were:[17][18]
English (36.1%) (2011)
Australian (35.4%) (2011)
Irish (10.4%) (2011)
Scottish (8.9%) (2011)

Looks like you are a little ill informed Eels.
I dont think you understand the term ethnic background. If infers where you ancestors came from. It is more a concept of history rather then geography.eelofwest wrote:

Oh and they have that funny English accent also which is a dead giveaway.
Mate you will get there with your understanding of the English language.eelofwest wrote:Your more then welcome to use any English players in a AFL multicultural players list....but no half cast's and no indigenous, oh indigenous are Australians if you did not notice that one also Pies....![]()
I think I can work out what you said in the first part of that sentence. Maybe some English lessons may complement you geography expertise. Seriously mate learn to take a joke. If you cant do that then at least when you are putting someone down, do so while forming a proper sentence that makes sense. Finally when you go for the kill make sure you understand what you are talking about. "Ethnic background" is where you came from not where you currently live.eelofwest wrote:Did i tell you a tutor Geography classes Pies...You want some lessons, i would be more then happy to..![]()

Nor does it revolve around the southern part of Australia, where approx 95% of your AFL players come from.AFL Warrior wrote:Good try but the world does not revolve around the Pacific Islands.

Re: NRL and multiculturalism, Player Rosters tell the Story
Yes pies, good to see you're learning. By the definition of ethnicity English is a different ethnic background. Yep good on the NRL, the more ethnically diverse code than marngrook.piesman2011 wrote:You learn something new every day. I didn't realise that England was a different ethnic background. Re: NRL and multiculturalism, Player Rosters tell the Story
Interesting stats here proving that ethnicity is a fluid concept. Australia is a relatively recently colonised nation state and we can easily assume that those picking australian in the census are more than 2nd generation aussie. Thus we must look into recent immigrants to really assess multiculturalism in either code. I can tell you now you wont need to do the research, the NRL is far far far more multicultural than the AFL comp is :D Common knowledge though pies, you prob knew it already.piesman2011 wrote:I would have thought that most common background for Australians would have been an English ethnic background (if not directly then indirectly). Pies you need to take a good look in the mirror mate, have i just hit a nerve or what.....eelofwest wrote:Well we all know the history of how Australia came to be Pies, but Pies most of us did Geography in School and came to the realization that England is on the other side of the World.....piesman2011 wrote:You learn something new every day. Here i am talking about Geography classes and lessons and this baffoon could not see the tung in cheek from my comment.
Mate time to crack open a beer and lighten up a little. Life is to short to take things to heart, you even brought up census data as to why you think English are the same as 4th generation Aussies....

Re: NRL and multiculturalism, Player Rosters tell the Story
Anyways time to get back on topic after Pies emotional rant..
Go Pies make a ethnic AFL players list...... i dare you.
Oh you don't want to make a list because it will show what we all already know.
That NRL is the leader along with Soccer in multiculturalism in Australian Sports. =D>
AFL 20 years behind maybe more.
NRL players with different ethnic backgrounds.

HaHa. Every where has a different ethnic background. But I would say that Australia and England have a similar ethnic background. Culturally they are quite different though.

Agree that we need to not take this sort of thing to heart. However I thought I was correcting your ignorance so I was only trying to do you a favour. I thought my satire of your ignorance was funny.eelofwest wrote:Pies you need to take a good look in the mirror mate, have i just hit a nerve or what.....eelofwest wrote:Well we all know the history of how Australia came to be Pies, but Pies most of us did Geography in School and came to the realization that England is on the other side of the World.....piesman2011 wrote:You learn something new every day. Oh and they have that funny English accent also which is a dead giveaway.
Your more then welcome to use any English players in a AFL multicultural players list....but no half cast's and no indigenous, oh indigenous are Australians if you did not notice that one also Pies....
Did i tell you a tutor Geography classes Pies...You want some lessons, i would be more then happy to..![]()

Here i am talking about Geography classes and lessons and this baffoon could not see the tung in cheek from my comment.
Mate time to crack open a beer and lighten up a little. Life is to short to take things to heart, you even brought up census data as to why you think English are the same as 4th generation Aussies....Wow so the english people carry the same culture as us aussies do they?
