No, the NRL doesn't understand it because on the field there is NO SUCH THING as provocation! The AFL understands that and penalises it. Superheroes are fictional and do not represent reality.

Now I dont know about others but i know theres a plenty of provocation out there on our footy fields. And I'm sure any good lawyer could argue for this, even though the lines between sport and society are quite blurred.

No, you can't keep up. You've drawn the line in the wrong place and refuse to admit it. Your attempt to apply court legislation in effect to the sporting field bears me out. A good lawyer will tell you that you need to pull your head in and follow the laws of the game, or suffer the consequences.

Oh really? I beg to differ. Laws are laws and our law in regards to violence in society offers flexibility to the perpetrator depending on the circumstances. Societies laws are more robust and more worked upon in order to be effective than any sports code's laws. RL's take on violence is more reflective of society's laws. The AFL and TLPG have taken the more ignorant stance.

Last time i looked the NHL was going just fine. The problem you have is you dont know when is and when it is not appropriate to use violence as was highlighted in your response to my question of what would you do if someone was in front of you in the process of dislocating your mate's arm. You indicated you would call the police and allow your friend to suffer great pain before stepping in. This non action is frowned upon in society TLPG, as it should be in sports.

It is not a non action. It is positive action that ensures punishment of the perpetrator. Doing it your way will only enflame the situation and get you into trouble. But you can't see that can you?

Actually when i think of it i wouldnt snot the bloke unless he had a go at me. In past occassions where mates have been on the ground with thugs on top of them i've ripped off the thug and everything's settled down from there. Thank god i didnt stand back and ring the cops or my mates faces would no longer be the same.

But back on topic, I still condone violence when fiercely unsportsmanlike play is on behaviour ala Judd in recent weeks. I personally would more than likely just rip the player off but anyone who would rip him off and snot him one I'd say good for them.

A close family member is being severely physically abused. Do you

a) step back and reach into your pocket for your mobile phone to call the police who will more than likely take 20-30mins to arrive on the scene.

or

b) step in and impose yourself physically and violently to help
