I would say there reason is that they only have 3 FTA games with one of them effectively live. But I guess that is an excuse as well.

AFL games go 3 hours - Nrl go 2hrs. Both have there pros and cons but all in all they are the basic fundamentals of or games! TV coverage isnt!

I Wont argue with you , I'll just simply point out that using your time schedule and logic. Your match was shown in the prime timeslot 1.5 hours 6 - 7.30. Yet the NRL timeslot you choose to ignore is shown in the same timeslot for the same time .

Ps the slot averages about 300K and has a high of 373

Half the AFL match was shown before 6pm. HALF! This would have a big impact on the average ratings.

Only 30 minutes of the NRL game was shown before 6pm, having a far small impact on the ratings of a game that is already far shorter.

The AFls telecast goes for 3 hrs, the NRLs 2. Therefore 1.5hrs of AFL was outside prime time as opposed to 30 minutes of NRL.

I dont mind the ratings being lower because of overlap. It may reduce the ratings but allow more families to attend on a Saturday. It is the way that it is scheduled and every game could be scheduled in such a way as to not overlap. I could say that the Friday night double header is a short comming for NRL and lowers the overall ratings. Is that a short comming or just my opinion? No need to answer that one it was retorical.

3 hrs is a big advantage but ratings as a gross numbers don't show it because there is no factor that accounts for length of time. If the NRL averages 500k for their 3 FTA games how does this compare to the AFls 4 FTA games that average 500k? Well the AFL has 12 hrs and the NrL only 6 so the AFL would be around double the value on a simple comparison.

I don't whinge about the 3 hrs, only remind you that the ratings arent the entire story.

When all sources are combined for the same game (FTA metro, regional and foxtel) the AFL have the highest rating games and by a long way.
