NRL Crowds Take A Big Dive

Post by Beaussie »

Cronulla v NZ 13,293
Penrith v Canberra 14,876
St George/Illawarra v South Sydney 11,624

Average for the round = 13,264

A big drop from the 17 odd thousand average to date. You'd have to say the turnout in Perth for Cronulla v NZ is very disappointing too.

What about the other crowds beaussie? You've given 3 and claimed that as the average for the round? Leads me to question how many brain cells you lost from beers last night. In any case the parra fans didnt turn up in numbers today and suck shit to them, they missed an absolutley chiselled performance by a team on the rise.

I think the average for the round ended up being about 14,500. May I add that that's the first time the average has dipped below last years record yearly average of 14,800 odd. For this week to be considered a poor week for the NRL crowd wise just shows how much crowds have improved since last year, in particular.

This is a non-issue in my opinion, but I suppose you had to find something to talk about Beaussie

It doesn't get much better after today:

Brisbane v Bulldogs 29,845
Sydney Roosters v Newcastle 8,921
Parramatta v NQ Cowboys 8,051
Manly v Wests Tigers 14,247

Average - 14,408

As Dizzy's pointed out, the average is lower than last year's average. Pretty disappointing all round I would have thought but to be expected I suppose. I mean once the hype of a new season dies down, NRL crowds return to embarrassing figures.

How about the crowd at Parramatta Stadium - 8,051, the Roosters didn't do much better at Aussie Stadium with a paltry 8,921. :_<>

And here I was thinking the Melbourne Storm were in trouble. It seems to be the case that the entire NRL that is having problems attracting crowds.

As a kid I watched Brisbane RL at provincial grounds with no grandstands and they had better crowds than this.

It's quite embarassing, really.

Without the games today, the round 10 average is not looking so great. Another dive in crowd numbers:

St George/Illawarra v Penrith - 12,932
Manly v Bulldogs - 14,768
Souths v Melbourne - 6,574 :_<>
Nth QLD v Brisbane - 22,477

Average - 14,188

Aren't Souths "the pride of the league."? Where are all their fans. 6,574 is truly pathetic. There proabably wasn't even that many. Fudging the figures again I suspect. The NRL is notorious for fudging crowd figures.
