The way that I would do it,(not exact) is that you work out how many are watching it on FTA lets say 50K. If you know that 35% of Sydney households have foxtel then you add 35%of 50k and add up the total. It is not exact and would be a rough guess. Most people with foxtel prefer to watch the game on Fox because there are no adds. With the Melbourne game if you had a FTA component (hopefully next year they do). Then you could guess roughly how many would be watching it on Fox.

The Swans TV ratings, despite the fact that all their home games have been shown live on FTA for several years, have been in constant decline. Go back and look at he ratings from 2008 thru to 2011 when Fox was not an issue. The party has been over for a couple of years.

In 2008 they averaged around 100 on the primary channel. Now they average 50-60k on a secondary channel plus foxtel.

Every time you got nothing Xman you try and wriggle out and make up crap, now you want to add foxtel to the list of Sydney viewers just pathetic and smelling more and more like desperation from you and TPLG every day.

Well given the swans rate far higher in sydney than the storm do in Melbourne on FtA, and the swans are shown concurrently on fox, there would be far more people watching the swans in Sydney than the storm in Melbourne.

Haveing a look at the attendances of each team is an indication as well.

It aint exactly hard. Just have a look at the Swans ratings on this site. Look at 2008 and then 2011. No one from the Swans denies that they have seen a decline over the last 5 years in a range of areas including TV.

The swans had a successful period in 2004-2007. A drop in ratings is expected. This year has been better with a ratings average close to 60-70k FTA on a secondary digital channel, plus more on foxtel.

All things considered these are better figures than 2008.

You do realise many of their FTA matches prior to 2012 were also on foxtel?

I would have thought the average would show the level of interest the lows would be due to other factors like the opponent. Having a winning team would also effect ratings. What's the storms excuse given theyre virtually unbeatable?
