The fact is no supporter can watch two shows at the one time. Therefore it is only fair to add the ratings together for games shown at the same time to gauge the viewer numbers for the sport during that game time. :D

For starters , thats the AFL's fault , nobody elses.

Most people can't sit through an AFL game There that long winded and boring.

Apart from matches involving the top sides there is very little interest in your competition.

The vast majority of supporters, either side, would watch there club game and then maybe 1 or 2 other games that might interest them.

Look out for men in white coats.... There coming to take you away!

They're coming to take YOU away, Pussycat, if you think most people can't sit through an AFL game! It's the third biggest sport in the world on crowd averages! Little interest? You're crazy!!

For starters the NRL have been combining ratings from concurrent games for years and no one has questioned the practice. Funny thing is, now that the AFL is live on Friday nights, even this tactic of the nRLs to maximize ratings is still losing!

This includes the nRLs ever so precious regional audience!

So the AFL have the top 10 rating games, or game times, of either code, and after the AFL have only had 10 rounds.

Secondly, the nRL have more games in the top 15 payTV games, but the AFL is still well represented, despite the game going for 50% longer and shown concurrently against a FTA game! Add to that the nRL states have far higher subscription rates so if they weren't ahead that would be hilarious. Fox footy still dominates as the channel of choice for more Australians anyway.

TV is the last bastion of the NRL. It's the only thing they come close to competing in. Yet this year its not a contest at all.

Suck it up losers!

Corrected. Do NOT include New Zealand ratings.

Besides - you have to include FTA for the big picture and that's where it evens up to the point that AFL wins.

The NRL has two main states NSW/Qld, the AFL three (Vic/SA/WA). The AFL have been spliting there feeds to show games into individual home markets for years . Ch 9 have only began doing it in the last 18 months. It allows people to see there own team at a decent hour.

What? Are trying to say the nRL have only had two concurrent Friday night games for 18 months? :^o

Oh and Tasmania is an AFL state too.

What I am saying is that the AFL have been splitting there signal, for the different states for a lot longer, and a lot more often than the NRL.

Agree. My point is that the NRL do it on Fridays, the highest ratings period of the week, to maximize their ratings. Fair enough too. But don't now try to suggest that I can't do it with the AFLs concurrent games or networks. Its a single ratings period and the cummulation of all ratings during that time shows the audience. Splitting them in to individual ratings is ridiculous.
