Oh dear. Does anyone else hear birds chirping and cuckoos cuckooing?TLPG wrote:YES! By the time my neice and nephew's kids are retirement age, thugby in NSW and QLD will be second behind the AFL and footy will be a clear number two in Europe behind soccer and New Zealand behind union, and a clear number three in the USA behind gridiron and baseball. And I haven't even mentioned Ireland or PNG!
I'll even say what will cause thugby's demise! The lack of investment at elite level thinking the grass roots will look after itself. Already happening in Wagga and it will spread!

Major difference between AR and RL is that in AR you have to earn a hard won ball. When you are catching it for example you are competing with someone from the opposition for the ball. 50% of the game is about winning the ball. I wont say it is more skillful then RL because that would just be my opinion, but is not as simple as kicking it straight and catching the incomming ball.MarkZZZ wrote:Not really a hard game to play, is it? Kick and Catch is about 95% of it. How long do you think it will be before we see these sides competing in a fully fledged international match against an elite Australian side. 2-5 years of would it be more like 50 - 100 years or my theory, NEVER IN MY LIFETIME OR MY GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILDRENS LIFETIME.![]()

Earning the hard ball is just a bit more skillful then stopping play after a tackle and picking up the ball with no pressure and then running 2 metres into a tackle. Not meaning to be offend anyone here but there are professional RL players who do only that because they are not trusted by their coaches to pass the ball. Anyone who can take a tackle has the skill (is that the right word for that??)to do that.MarkZZZ wrote:Earning that hard won ball? :P
It's called a contested possession, something RL sadly lacks because the majority of their possessions are uncontested !MarkZZZ wrote:Earning that hard won ball? Thats when they scramble around like a bunch of seagulls chasing that chip![]()
