BTW the AFL is about 3 rounds behind the NRL and has 11 of the top 20 broadcasts, even with rep games included.
It also has 4 FTA games a week.
One being delayed on Saturday afternoon against 2 other live games on foxtel.

Yeah 3 live FTA vs 1 live FTA every week, somehow i think us being further on into the season does not make up for 3live vs 1live game. :D

No, not every market gets 3 live games, eg Perth.

My point is Friday and Sunday are stronger rating days than Saturday. If the NRL think they will pick up a large number of extra viewers with FTA on Saturday they may be disappointed. Anyway, the NRL make up for it because 7-8 of their games are shown in isolation per week.

In my opinion the friday night live slot is probabaly the only really good slot. You could get a Monday night slot that would rate well, howver it will also probabaly only come 3rd in the time slot beaten by programs like the voice, masterchef and dancing with the stars. The sunday live time slot for NRL will generate maybe 200K more viewers at most. For the record technically you have 2 games on friday night live, they are just broadcast to different audiences. Saturday night might be an option but foxtel will pay more to keep it I think.

Who the hell is collington? :-k

You accuse piesman of knowing nothing but you can't even name his team correctly, which just happens to be the largest sporting club in Australia. #-o

Thursday night is stronger. How many Thursday Night matches do you have?

Not sure, but usually they're the night before a public holiday.

Monday and Thursday are good for viewing but horrible for attendance. Look at last nights NRL. 11k between 2 popular Sydney teams! The negative impact of such an empty stadium on the tv should be enough to negate the benefit of a midweek prime time slot.

Thursday nights are good for ratings because there are a lot of people watching TV at this time. The problem with Thursday night Football is that the ratings may look good compared to Friday/ saturday nights but the toal TV viewership is much bigger, so in the end a thursday night game will still be outrated on other channels by reality TV. Big ratings on thursday night might be worth less to TV networks because it is not increasing the normal audience for the timeslot. This is why Saturday afternoon sport although it might not look like big ratings, can be worth good money because they increase the audience for the time slot well above the normal audience figure.
A single SOO match on Wednesday night might be massive ratings, however compared to the NRL grandfinal it will be worth less to a TV network because it is not as big an increase of the ratings compared to GF. Big ratings are not important in certain time slots, which naturally have big ratings almost independently of the programing. It is all about winning the ratings for the time slot and using programing to bring in new viewers that would normally not watch TV in that timeslot.

This comming from the poster who believes that the MCG never sells out during the home and away season. If I remember correctly you were saying that it was not sold out during the 2010 grand final replay as well. Some of your trolling can be funny, however quite often you come across as an angry, obsessed and sad individual.
