Having enough money will not be the issue. Deciding where to spend it will be.
Most of it will go to paying players a bigger wage.

What is that like 2% bigger?? I would say that it is almost going backwards because the population of Australia has grown more then that. Just kidding. It was an interesting match, the Inglas try was the major talking point for mine. Was it live into Perth and Adelaide this year?

game 3 was 2.45 million last year?? Game 1 this year was 2.515 million this year.

2.515 divided by 2.45 X 100

= 102.6%
or 2.6% bigger then game 3 last year.

game 1 last year was 2.23 million game 1 this year was 2.515 million

13% growth since game 1 last year

Did I do the maths wrong?

3.91 million nationally that is a huge number. Almost 20% of Australia was watching.
For me the number of Sydney people watching needs to be more 1.1 million (population close to 5 million) compared to brisbane 900 K (population 2.1 million).

No, I think I did.

But yeah, The Inglis try was very controversial , especially as a Blues fan. It didnt look right, but under the rules it probably was.

I think there is more and more pressure building on NSW to finally win one. This will no doubt be increasing the interest of the casual viewer. It's another story within the overall product.

Pies if Nsw win Game 2 in sydney then going by your 13% growth since game 1 last year figure how much would game 3 rate? :D

Hopefully Qld thrash NSW 60 -0 in game 2. Go Qld. The only failing of SOO is that there are only 2 states. It is what makes it work for now in the NRL but it will eventually mean it will stagnate. It would be interesting to see how the AFL could go with 6 different states competing.

All good things come to an end eventually. But the've been going strong for 30 years, and the last two matches drew record ratings. So you might be waiting awhile

So if SOO were to get to the decider and going by the 13% increase on game 1 figure what would origin 3 rate?

2011 Origin 3 2.468m
2012 Origin 3 2.788m + regionals and it will be well over 4million viewers in Aus, close to %20 of Australia watching this great contest.

Fri TV FTA #NRL: 717k (Syd 350k Mel 77k Bri 280k Ade 2k Per 8k) Early game 9/GEM

Fri TV FTA #AFL: 691k (Syd 20k Mel 446k Bri 26k Ade 106k Per 93k) 7/7mate #afldogscats

So the NRLs 2 combined live 2hr games, one involving 1v2, barely beat the AFLs 10v11 game which was also simulcast on foxtel and lasts for 3 hours. Add foxtels simulcast and the AFL win handsomely again, with a very run of the mill game too.

Ok figures for the storm though. It's amazing what being premiership favorites and almost unbeatable will do for supporter interest. What was wrong with the attendance figures though? 13k? #-o

That was the early game. Did you note, 77k in Melb.

The latter game 395K.

What? I quoted the early game.

I also commented on the Melbourne ratings for the storm v broncos. A massive blockbuster with 1 v 2 that drew 13k crowd and attracted 77k vs a lowly ranked AFL game.
