Another week, another massive win for the AFL! This time a more comparable single game live to each market, except Perth which still get the AFL on a significant delay.

Fri TV: #NRL #NRLWSTWAR (Nine+GEM) 602k (Syd 368k Mel 16k Bri 212k Ade 2k Per 4k)

Fri TV: #AFL FTA #aflpiescats (Seven+7mate) 875k (Syd 22k Mel 522k Bri 44k Ade 150k Per 137k)

With foxtel the AFLs lead will be a massive 550-600k without regional FTA ratings. =D> even after these are included the lead should be 300-400k.

Look at live prime time NRL in Perth! 4k!  quick, get a team in there ASAP!
It' shown at 4 or 5 o'cock in the afternoon! and we dont have a team there. On the other hand , the AFL is live into Sydney, you have 2 teams, one of which has been around almost 30 years and the best you can do is 22K

Yes, congradulations you must be very pleased with yourself managing beating 60% of our audience. =D> =D> =D> One of teams playigs home fans don't count at all
The national total for the NRL first broadcast this weekend would have been about 1 million. The AFL FTA only component would be close to 1.2 million nationally we got you well beat this friday night, even without foxtel numbers.

NRL in Perth was betwen 5.30-7.45pm which is a good ratings slot. The 6pm news, Today tonight and A current affair were the highest rating shows on TV last night and they ran between 6pm -7pm. This was smack bang in the middle of the NRL broadcast.

Sydney watch AFL on fox as well. Perth have one option and 2k tuned in.

The AFL annihilated the NRL. Yes it is only 60% of your audience but it would be only 65% of ours too.

As piesman said, this game would have a total audience of 1.5m viewers, far more than any NRL home and away game this year. In fact its up there with typical NRL finals ratings (non GF), including regionals.

Why do you think they have the news in that timeslot? Answer: because it is the best timeslot. No one said it would be easy to win the timeslot, just that it was a good timeslot because it has lots of people watching the TV at the time.

  classic comment!

As piesman said, they schedule popular shows in the early evening, like 6pm - 8pm, because that's when there are the most eyes in front of the TV!

Would you prefer the NRL to go back to 1am, since there are barely any popular programs to compete with at that time? :-k

On and AFL fans in Sydney watch AFL on foxtel AND FTA. Plus, 22k plus foxtel is many many times the NRLs ratings in Perth.

How can you expect a game , a new start up game to be taking viewers off the news?

NRL fans have complained for years about lack of coverage at a decent hour in AFL states. Now you have it you're complaining it's in a popular timeslot. #-o #-o

Face it. Why would the people in Victoria, SA WA or Tasmania be interested in a game that has incredibly low participation rates, few if any local players playing at the highest level, and one team between four states?

Im not complainig about anythinhg, Im all in favour of what there doing . However Im Mystified by your ridiculous post. The fact that you having a go at the Perth numbers when you got just 22k in Sydney, after having a precence there for almost 30 years.

Actually the Friday game is higher then you really think.

Fri TV: #NRL #NRLWSTWAR (Nine+GEM) 602k (Syd 368k Mel 16k Bri 212k Ade 2k Per 4k) + SKY Sport 2 NRL: 139,620 = 741,620

And this is with no simulcasting on Fox.

And yeah 22k in sydney is horrible after 30 years of exposure and coverage.

22k on FTA plus a fair number on payTV.

Perth was 4k with no payTV

The AFL smashed the NRL in FTA and was also on foxtel, splitting the ratings. A total of 1.5m eclipses any NRL home and away game this year by a decent amount.

It's all upside for the AFL. nRL a distant second as usual.
