Yes , congraduations, it narrowly shadded our test match - without regionals. Proving even losers get lucky sometimes
Yep, beat your rep game, which is relevant to your entire fan base, and smashed every NRL home and away game to bits.

Plus it was a day game telecast out of peak, plus it was averaged over a 5 hour telecast! =D>
The Anzac Day match-up between Collingwood and Essendon, which finished in a dramatic one-point win to the Magpies, set a new record as the most-watched AFL home and away match since OzTam ratings began in 2001.

Wednesday’s match at the MCG drew a total average audience of 1.726 million viewers nationally

Yesterday’s average audience was broken down into 1.029 million metropolitan free to air viewers, 357,738 regional free to air viewers and 338,870 subscription viewers.
You may have noticed our PTV game was the best rating this year. given that only about 30% have pTV your very lucky we wern't on FTA , otherwise you would have found youself runners up.

None of your home and away games have come anywhere near 1.1mil, which is what you would need to top 1.726m after regionals

Fool. The AFLs audience was 30% more than last year and was almost certainly the largest audience for a home and away game for either codes since oztam ratings began in 2001.

Plus it was non prime time and over 5 hrs! Given the advertising time in a 3 hr AFL game telecast is 3 times that of an NRL game this single game was probably worth more to ch7 than an entire weekend of NRL on FTA.

The AFLs highest Paytv rating was about 270k last year.

Already after 4 rounds they've rated over 300k three times! 2 of the 4 saturday nights have had concurrent foxtel games which have rated over 300k when added together.

They are smashing last years foxtel ratings for highest figures and totals (of course). No doubt this will grow each year when people see the value of live games in hd. Decent coverage on foxtel is new to AFL fans and it will still be catching on.

What I found interesting about the AFL ANZAC game was that it was a 5 hour broadcast on C7 that averaged more then 1 million FTA viewers metro. It would have had 3-4 times the amount of advertising then say a NRL SOO or the NRL Grand final. This could mean from a purely monetary point of view that the AFL ANZAC game could be worth more then a single SOO or maybe even the NRL grand final due to all of the advertising revenue generated. Even with an SOO getting 3.2 million viewers nationally (it that right?) the AFL ANZAC game getting about 1.3 million FTA nationally would be worth about the same as an SOO generating 3.9-5.2 million (3-4 times the advertising space). That was just the FTA component. Add to that the 340,000 or so who watched it on Fox and this game was a big pay day for all. Yeah I know this was an extreme view in the favour of the AFL but I thought I would play with it a little.

Ha,Ha ...dream on - The super bowl. can demand a billion dollars a second (or whatever the figure is), for its advertising time because it wins it timeslot so comprehensively .

According to your AFL website site, Xman. Your regionals were less than 30%, based on Anzac Day figures.

Nrl on PTV must also be improving at a similar rate (from a much larger base) because the numer of AFL matches in the top 30 is very similar to that of years gone by.

:?
1029k FTA metro and 358k regiona FTA.

therefore the regional audience was 34.8% or over 1/3rd of the metro audience.

You do realise the AFL have had only 4 rounds compared to the NRLs 8? :?

You do realise each Saturday and Sunday the AFL's PTV games are shown concurrently on Foxfooty and Fox1? :?

AFL are swamping the NRL on PTV. The reason it isnt reflected in your table is because the audiences are split **** more than one game, and the games are averaged over 3 hrs.
