Giants - what would be a successful first year?

Well the NRL membership figures are out and it looks like the GWS have already achieved higher membership tally than 1 Sydney based nrl team in the sharks who haven't even cracked 5k!

GWS currently have 6,817 members.

That's more members than the Gold Coast Titans and Cronulla Sharks and not far behind the Canberra Raiders or Penrith Panthers.

How embarrassing are those numbers for the Titans and Sharks.

8 of the NRL clubs are still a fair way off their 2011 despite the season already starting!

The graph above proves once again the Sydney Swans remain the Number 1 team in NSW when it comes to membership numbers.

Swans now have 22,825 members with numbers growing each and every day. =D> =D> =D>

16 if you consider 4500 of the Sharks 4600 members live in the area they represent
compared to 2500 for the Midgits
& when they get belted by 100 pts in their first 3 games .... don't expect anymore signs up this year
& expect about half the amount they have now .. this time next year when they go down in History as the worst VFL side in History

They still have weeks until they play their first game and will grow membership numbers substantially after their next few full games of practice games. Meanwhile the NRL have wlready started and won't grow much at all. Some of your clubs are way behind last year! The one who is way ahead is the broncos who are fudged by single game memberships imagine if the GWS end up ahead of 6 or 7 NRL clubs in their first year!!

Where is this big catch up you were telling us about!

Well, comparable to 3 nrl clubs and a thumping for the 4th.
GWS has still to play one H&A game and already it has the status of an nrl club and does not have the membership wooden spoon.

IMO that openning game with the Sydney Swans will really push matters along..
