David Gallop offers Clive Palmer an NRL gig

NRL boss David Gallop has thrown the door open for maverick mining magnate Clive Palmer to get involved in rugby league.
Whether it's by propping up the financially strained Titans or investing in another club, Gallop is open to the idea of talks with the $6 billion man who has been chucked out of soccer's A-League.
It's intriguing Palmer was in the NRL box as a guest at the recent All Stars match on the Gold Coast.
"Private ownership has worked very well in rugby league," Gallop said.
"I read recently where Clive said our game was better than soccer. If he'd like to get involved, he seems to have a few issues to deal with but I'd be happy to sit down and have talks with him."
Palmer's future in soccer will no doubt be decided in the courts in coming months. Recently, he told The Sunday Telegraph he was not a fan of the game, sparking full-scale war with FFA.
"I don't even like the game," Palmer said. "The A-League's a joke. I think it's a hopeless game. I think rugby league's a much better game."
He's since back-tracked but why Gallop would want such a loose cannon in the game is the question that needs asking. In three decades as a sportswriter, I've never known a club official to show such a lack of respect for a game.

Oh dear David
How desperate is Mr Gallop.
Re: Oh dear David
This is why Gallop should be sacked as CEO. This is like thinking a maverick on board would create publicity and headlines that woudl attract supporters. All it would do is attract readers to the newspapers and do nothing for the NRL.

They aren't whining. You are.
Re: Oh dear David
I hope the NRL does get Palmer involved. He's royally screwed thenA league. He came in guns blazing and when things got tough he slagged the sport and is now trying to pull the rug right out from underneath them.
