So lets get this straight. On the evidence provided, it is clear that the sport of Marn Grook was played across Australia before Captain Cooks arrival?

It was played across the country, across the nation, across this island we now call Australia. :D This is proven with only a few sightings of the sport being played in a very small section isolated to of the south eastern corner of the nation.
Labotomy Xman, go get yours.

Nice try at the comeback Xman, but folks who need a labotomy shouldnt try comedy.
NSW your still a funny chap though. Can you tell us all again that from the evidence provided, the few sightings isolated to a small region in the south eastern corner of the country, can you tell us all again that Marngrook was played across Australia before Captain Cooks arrival?
Nice loud voice now

Nor should folks who have had one. Especially a bilateral frontal, occipital, parietal and temporal lobe lobotomy. Your cerebellum isn't big enough to compensate.King-Eliagh wrote:Nice try at the comeback Xman, but folks who need a labotomy shouldnt try comedy.

Quite clearly, it took untill further exploration and settlement for Europeans to know Australia.King-Eliagh wrote:This is proven with only a few sightings of the sport being played in a very small section isolated to of the south eastern corner of the nation.
Obviously it was always there or perhaps the aborigines said "let's start playing some marngrook just so in
2012 KE will earn a BS point". Comspiracy theory wins out always.
Nice try Cos.

Ah cos, why no more evidence then? It doesnt matter how long it took for European explorers to settle in different areas "across" Australia you silly numbat. The facts are Marngrook was never seen to be played anywhere but in a small section of the SE corner of this massive island. If it was played in more areas than this, there'd be evidence of it. But there's none and therefore we know it wasnt played across Australia, and that it was only played in the SE corner.
I know that deep down you know I'm right guys so lets just leave it at that and give the littlest vfl fan his best point. I'm quite happy for this pampering and assistance to be provided to the needy/'special' cases we have as members. Xman I commend you on your charity work in here, its a hard job but someones got to help the needy. You're a tops bloke

Verdict: undecided
There is too much doubt In this debate. While it seems likely the claim is true, statements by the claimant like:

cast some doubt over the evidence. Furthermore, the ambiguous use of the term "across" makes the intent of the original claim unclear. The fact that the game, or a version thereof, was played in two distinct areas miles from each other, it follows that it is possible that it was played in many other places
