That honors their past association with south Melbourne football club. It has nothing to do with their current affiliates.

Who gives a shiit, it's still kicking sand in the face of the supposed city they represent.

FITH the Swans gave Sydney a premiership and they will always be remembered for that.

What a load of crap. They even sing a version of the South Melbourne song!

Yeah, nah. They still get bigger crowds than all NSW NRL teams so Sydney still are willing to go see them.

Haha. I notice you said nothing about AFL in AFL heartland states. It's booming larger than ever. So much so It can now afford to throw massive resources in to ARs in other states and has shown the results in grass roots ARs in NSW and QLD with 66 players from these states currently playing in the AFL. =D> now we are entering a 5 year period where the AFL will be on FTA in all states live and in prime time, plus all games on payTV.

This is how to expand. Not just find a consortium to start a club with no grass roots support. That's the NrL model and it's failing in their own heartland let alone any attempt to expand beyond it. The storm are being massively bankrolled and despite huge success have gone nowhere. The financial support is fine but who is going to change to follow this sport when no one is playing it?!

Yet you continue to live in a constant state of fear of the big bad AFL.

If they are born and raised here yes. However they are still of pacific island origin, at least the ones I have seen. There are a number but not too many. In general I have not seen other ethnic groups take up RL in Victoria.
so they're ... victorians in general then

thanks
Xman, you're slow and a moron, so please, refrain from using those terms to others from now on. It just makes you look terribly pathetic

You lot have been saying that year after year.

Bit like the tv rights debate. Accept you place as second fiddle to the AFL. History and the future ain't changing in our lifetimes sunshine.

The new tv deal is on its way beaussie, give the bloke a break. Perhaps after the tv deal you can talk a bit of talk like that, with the support of the littlest aflfan in tow. But not now. Things could change massively very soon.
