again, many factors. Live games in VIC were not necessarily live in SA, and almost certainly in WA. The NRL can show a game that is relevant to both its primary states. The AFL cannot because it has teams in 5 cities. The AFL is still going after 10pm, meaning a drop off in audience if the game isnt close. The NRL is finished before 9.30pm.

Really, just check the AFL GF if you want a decent idea of TV following. The conditions are about as close and comparable as you can get.

Why else does you 9.30 game rate so badly? Do Sydney/Brisbane people turn in to pumpkins at 9.30pm?

I'd say the 3rd hour of most FN flogball games wouldn't rate that much better then the 1st hour of the 2nd NRL FNF game

Yeah funny that! When the AFL is on at 8.30pm it doesnt start the thrid quarter until nearly 10pm. Do you think that effects the ratings especially when they're averaged? Of course it does! Especially for people playing sport or working early the next day. This is one of the main reasons the 7.30pm games rate better.

For similar reasons. Your heartland is essentially in 2 states and in the same time zone. Ours is in 3 states across 3 time zones. My understanding is that WA do not get live AFL finals. They are our second biggest market. We also have bigger following in Sydney and Brisbane than NRL has outside NSW/QLD. The AFL cannot capture the entire market in one final. The NRL almost can.
