Thanks mate, I'll think about it. I must say, this is the only legible, honest comment you've made in this thread. It doesnt help your argument though.

Re: BS Claim#2: The RFL alone is bigger than all the AFL....
When I originally saw this bs claim I must say if the players presented comparable numbers it could be proven to a degree. Unfortunately this has not happened. I have given them a chance but a result is clearly not forthcoming. I am man enough to concede it was not an appropriate topic for a bs file claim in hindsight.King-Eliagh wrote:Rule 2 Xman, rule 2! It's not parras fault you've dropped the ball on letting this one into the BS files when you shouldnt. Therefore he should win this one.
Unfortunately no points can be awarded in this case because the claim has not been proven (yet) and it appears unprovable.

Re: BS Claim#2: The RFL alone is bigger than all the AFL....
The claim CAN be proven, Xman. By Parra listing either 3000 competitions in the UK, or 8550 clubs in the UK that play rugby league. If he can provide those numbers, he has proven his claim is correct and he gets a B&S Point. But if he doesn't (and he can't because we all know there are NOT 3000 comps or 8550 clubs) then he gets a BS Point.
It can't be clearer than that. Using other definitions is outside the context of the claim and therefore irrelevant.

Unfortunately i agree that size cannot be entirely measured by these numbers alone. They don't take into account levels of interest, wealth, profession status or other factors that are harder to measure.NSWAFL wrote:The claim CAN be proven, Xman. That's the context I challenged the claim on, and the reality is that it's the only objective claim that could be made. As you said yourself, anything else is subjective.

285,000 participants in the UK for RL is not understandable for you?

Perfectly. That means that if more than 5700 play AFL outside of Australia (that's your number divided by 50) you are done!ParraEelsNRL wrote:285,000 participants in the UK for RL is not understandable for you?
And I can safely say there are at least 10,000. If you want me to prove it I will.

Re: BS Claim#2: The RFL alone is bigger than all the AFL....
"We're really keen to build South Africa and the South Pacific in the traditional sense, to get participation numbers up," Sheehan said. "And from that talent emerges.
"Right at the moment, we have 100,000 people playing football around the world (outside Australia) and most of those are in the southern hemisphere.
"We'd like to build that to about 200,000 in five years. If we set it up, the kids will come and play, and we're really quite ambitious about South Africa and the South Pacific. In other parts, like the US, Canada and Ireland, there might be the odd one at 20 or 21 who might switch across, but we'll never grow to be quite large in the northern hemisphere.
"But we really think there's a niche for us in the southern hemisphere to grow into a mass participation sport.

By that token, Debbie now has to prove there are 5 million RL players in the UK!!
And it's not even RL heartland! It's soccer heartland!
