Round 2, Early Thoughts

Post by SBR »

Collingwood vs. Adelaide

I beleive the Crows are in with a big chance, Last year when we faced Collingwood i just couldn't see us getting over them. Our last quarters against the Pies were very low quality and slow. I'f we can play four quarters of hard football then the Crows will definately get over the Line.

No Buckley for Collingwood certainly gives the Crows a Mental edge in the match, A main person who needs to be hard against the Pies is Roo. Maccas needs to play his usual dominating football around the packs and Use Goodwin, Edwards and our other mid-field boys wisely. The Crows direction into the fifty has been there struggle, and adding onto that is the fact there's been no targets.

I feel if either Welsh or Stevens can get some early mental edge over their opponents then they have a big chance of taking the game completly away from the Pies. I think the last quarter will be the most interesting to see who can outlast who... it will be whoever wants the game more in more eyes.

I think the Crows will get over the line as long as our forwards can perform, by 17 Points.

Port Adelaide vs. Brisbane

There's been much talk in the media about Port missing lots of players, But Brisbane also have some very key ones out aswell. Tredrea was great for the Power last week, even though he didn't play the complete match in the forwardlines he proved that he is an asset anywhere he plays. The Cornes brothers need to have the usual mental and physical edge over their opposition players, I think maybe sticking Chad in the Forwardlines to help out for a bit will be an option for Williams.

The Lions have so many senior players which can step up and take the game away from the Power, Whether or not the Power can stop this from happening will be very interesting to see. In saying that the Power have players which can step up, Just not as many.

The Power will need to try and get the physical edge early against the Lions, Because the Lions are capable of just playing it tight for a half and then killing the team in the second. In the end the Power will need to get an early lead against the Lions in my eyes and just not let them get a sniff at the win, if this happens the match could get ugly.

I beleive this week the Lions just have too much muscle for the Power, So the Lions by 40 Points.

Can't say with living in Sydney that I've had a lot of opportunities to watch the Crows play. However, after watching the Pies on Monday I think the Crows are in with a big chance here. No Buckley certainly helps mentally, but I worry about the Crows travelling record. Will be a close one I think.

Despite the Power beating the Lions on the big day last season, I think the Lions are going to be very hard to beat here, particularly if they get physical which they seem to be doing more often these days. I agree that you certainly don't want them getting a sniff of victory.

The Lions will no doubt be there again in September, this week will most certainly be interesting with the GF rematch. I'll however go with Lions here. Wouldn't at all be surprised if the Power get up though.

Yeah Lions and Port is really a toss of the coin game - surely Port can't play as badly as they did last week?

That's the make of a great side - they may have one off week, but not two. Question is, are Port a great team? Brisbane certainly are, although they will miss Jared Brennan.

I think Adelaide are specials against Collingwood. If ever a side made a run at the wooden spoon, it was Collingwood on Monday. Crows by 40+ points.

I am hoping that the Pies can turn around their rotten form of late. I doubt it will be this week though.

This week should be the game we start to turn it around, we probably won't win but we should show some life in this game, I hope!

What's wrong with Tarrant - he doesn't look 100% fit to me - not necessarily an injury, but just not cardio fit!

His main problem is his confidence is front of goal, it has been shown when he goes for a shot on goal and misses. I have suggested he be moved to CHF, and use his marking power to get the ball into the forward line.
