we've had this discussion
not having it again ...........
there are 100K Sydneysiders with some interest in AR in Sydney
there are 1.5 Million with some in RL

so almost every single swans supporter makes time to watch their team every week do they? None are working, at life events like weddings, parties etc? Do you watch every single raiders game?
If 25k are at the game, 60k watching on FTA and 20k watch PayTV there are sure to be many many more who could not attend or watch.

This link suggests there are over 1million Swans fans. Obviously not all of them are living in Sydney, but the vast majority would be.
Notice the poll also shows that the AFL has greater support than NRL.
NOT in sydney ... their TV ratings would be considerably bigger otherwise ( this is where ratings are a great indicator )
like Ive said ... if you can't even flip a button on a remote to watch a TV show that doesn't require much of a comitment from you
.. you are quite " uninterested" in the contents of said show.
and as for that ridiculous poll.......
the figures for the league teams from the same report ... have the Broncos as the most popular football team.. of any code.. in the Country
& it also said the Storm have .... 826K fans ... making them .. the 2nd most popular NRL team ... & the 3rd most popular team of any code in the country

do you believe that ?
no
then don't believe any of the rest of it either

The thing you don't take into account is that tv audiences are not a true indication of support numbers.
For example crowd and membership figures Show collingwood have Atleast double the support of say the melbourne demons. But as far as tv audience goes the demons would get a similar or maybe slightly smaller audience than Collingwood, often depending on the likely quality of the game and the effect it has on the final 8.
Why is this so? Well clearly the TV ratings for every game have a significant proportion of neutral fans watching.
Therefore to simply say that the 100k that watch the swans should be compared to the ratings for all the ratings for NRL games is wrong. You are then counting all the RL fans multiple times and the swans fans only once.
Fn prime time games for RL compared to the swans are probably a better comparison and show the swans are probably supported about 1/5th to 1/6th of all the Sydney NRL teams.
