Two issues with your interpretation of those facts.

First, in order to equal the field you must include the Canberra Auskick figures. This will bump the AFL numbers up considerably. This is needed to counter the added U6, U7, U8 and U9 competitions that the CDRL have.

Second, in order to have a viable team a club must run with 30 players on the list per team. So the minimum number of players on your current statistics is not 2600. It is 3300. Yes still behind, but then add the Auskick numbers and it's a lot closer.

You clearly have no idea how auskick runs. You register, you play, you get a kit, it's every week. They do drills to formal games. Our local clubs run Saturday and Sunday.

As NSWAFL says, you need to add them to the ACT figures if you've added the same age groups for RL.

Even if the numbers indicate those that are registering at worst, that number is still growing dramatically. So clearly people are thinking more about ARs as a viable sport for their kids to play in NSW. That's great =D>

she goes to a school where they held a clinic ... she registered for nothing .. they signed her up
she took part as she had no choice ... she counts as 1 AR player in NSW

why should she be one of those 86K ... is it a fair n accurate reflection of playing numbers or not ?
the Govt rightly says its a flawed manipulative system that can't be relied on
