Do you know anything about the sport you support?

A final point I meant to make earlier was that yes physical toughness obviously the bumps, tackles and courage you need to play both games and league has by far the heavier contact and higher courage required. :)

yes
theres no courage in hitting someone not looking in the side of the head
blind siding him when hes low over the ball
the actions of a gutless cat

no
it takes courage to see your opponent in front of you & not cower in the contest
to not flinch in the face of 3 or 4.. big powerful bodies coming at you & treating you like you were caught nailing their missues

it takes a special breed to do this ... over n over
RL players are this
more courageous sportsmen are not found on this planet

That's rubbish. The great majority if RL big hits are anticipated and predictable, therefore the players prepare by bracing themselves.

A significant proportion of AFL big hits are from putting your body on the line and being prepared to take a hit for the benefit of the team. Like the poor player who used to have to block the space that plugger and hall used to lead in to. Or a player running back with the flight of the ball while keeping his eyes on it, despite the chance he'll be cleaned up by the forward coming the other way. AFL hits are often faster and with more force because players can be running at full pace in opposite directions.

Xman you've admitted before that you havent watched RL before and it shows. A RL fullback puts his body on the line in a much greater display of courage than AFL players. Each and every time a bomb is put up or a down field kick is put in the guy will take on the responsibility of keeping his eyes on the ball and taking it while usually around 5 mammoth (in comparison to AFL players) athletes will be honing in to knock the guy 10 metres back. Also every player literally puts their body on the line each and everytime they make a tackle in league cause if the runner gets through you, a potential match winning try will be scored. RL tackles are much more intense than AFL tackles and involve guys that can produce more force i.e. mass X acceleration and power i.e the rate at which energy is transferred than AFL players. This is why AFL teams bring in RL players to coach tackling. Also there are often high speed collisions in league.

Intencity your dribble about injuries makes less sense than your normal fhg..fgsdf.,sfg.,gffg.,sdf. Impact injuries in league are more common and more commonly worse than in AFL you dribbling twit. Its just in the centre of your chin now mate, wipe it off eh?

I don't doubt RL tackles pack more force. It's not the tackles that pack the most punch in ARs. It's the body clashes at pace from multiple directions, wether the player is ready or not. I've seen players rupture abdominal organs like spleen, liver, pancreas, kidney, bowel. We've seen some horrific limb and facial fractures which resemble high speed vehicle accidents. These are impact injuries. If RL have impacts worse than these I'd be very very surprised!

Exactly, on average RL hits are bigger no doubt, but the biggest AFL hits dwarf the biggest NRL hits, an AFL player lost a kidney a few years ago and concussions are a way of life, many AFL players have been forced into early retirement from repeated concussions, been many facial injurys that resemble car crash victims too, the difference is AFL players often don't see it coming and havn't braced for contact.
what do you get of those .... 2 a game ?

do not make your sport out to be anything it isn't
tough ... it isn't

As usual the followers of rl have thrown in the towel and conceded defeat.
They have no time for logic, statistics, references or debate.
Until then, we can can consider this a win for Australian Football over the imported imperial English game.
Nice try Cos.

Cos, you've contributed diddly to this discussion in your last two posts. And tell me where your AFL pals have used "statistics and references" in their debate over the last page or two?

And all we get from them are more burps and farts. As usual.
Rugby League has a lying culture. Altering crowd figures, relying on inaccurate TV figures from regional NSW and refusing to distance itself from Leagues Clubs and obtain it's own club memberships as it relies on LC's to survive as private entities.
