Just 9311 AFL players in
All of Sydney ... the Illawarra .. the central coast .. & newcastle
& this is WITH Auskick numbers
only 1000 in western Sydney... about the same number who play RL .. in Melbourne
5.75 Million people in these combined areas
& this is all they have ... ?
we're supposed to believe they have 85K in one age divison alone ... a few years later
how does Andy Dimmerswitch peddle this BS with a straight face

¡ As many kids play rugby league in Melbourne as play AFL in Sydney's west. ¡ AFL counts children involved in short-term Auskick clinics as official players. ¡ There are only slightly more juniors playing AFL in Sydney's west than rugby league in the eastern suburbs. ¡ The eight listed junior AFL clubs in Sydney's west need to amalgamate age groups to field teams. ¡ Newcastle, included in AFL data as part of greater Sydney, has falling player numbers. THE NUMBERS
Australian football junior participation rates for season 2007 Region Auskick Junior Youth Total
Central Coast 178 377 297 852
Illawarra 157 330 231 718
Newcastle 167 291 310 768

I must admit I dont have a wealth of knowledge on AFL participation numbers in syd but from my awareness and one season experience as a player in syd, these figures look pretty accruate to me.
Real nice you included auskick for our aussie rules supporters there too Raider. We all know including auskick would be like including touch footy numbers in league participation figures. Even so our afl supporters in here would be up in arms if you didnt include them so really sportsmanlike that you added them in Raider. Good man.

A burp and a fart. What a terrible thread.
Rugby League has a lying culture. Altering crowd figures, relying on inaccurate TV figures from regional NSW and refusing to distance itself from Leagues Clubs and obtain it's own club memberships as it relies on LC's to survive as private entities.

the AFL shouldn't be including them as a fair guage of its participation levels as they don't accurately reflect true numbers of committed players
but
the poor ol AFL know if they don't .. their numbers of participants would plummett
& afterall
accuracy .... is not part of the AFL's vocabulary

Dave and King, you are wrong. The numbers given are 85,000 are for the whole state. This includes the very strong Riverina region. It also includes Canberra and the Sapphire Coast which has been strong for some time. Our big increases also include the North Coast and the South Coast around the Nowra region that is not included in your Illawarra figures. Then there is the Central West, Broken Hill and the Summerland region.

Yeah I really dont care whether they include auskick numbers or not to tell you the truth. Its dodgy strategy and smoe and mirrors stuff but you would expect the general public not to fall for it...or on second thoughts perhaps they would

who is this ... TPLG ?
which of you giggleball morons started a new account with the name ... NSWAFL
hilarious
but lets proceed anyway
so we have about 2K AR U12 players in the entirity of Sydney
& another 84K in the rest of the state .. in ONE age group... ONE
the Riverina has a population of about 250K ... it has about 35 Jnr clubs all up ... there might be 50 U12 teams down there .. all up
thats 1K players
83K to go
Canberra wouldn't have as many U12 teams as the Riverina
the Sapphire Coast ?.... a few towns .. Merimbula .. Eden etc , if 40K people lived in this region all up I'd be staggered
what .. a dozen U12 teams
we have the numbers for the Sth Coast ... albeit a few years old .. they're abysmal
see where we are going here NSWAFL ?
nice try .. buts its Bull Honkey isn't it ?

Because the figures were calculated by AFL NSW/ACT.King-Eliagh wrote:NSWAFL the ACT is not part of this state though? So tell me, why are they included?

Welcome to the asylum, NSWAFL. You'll find that the RL supporters here are completely dumb.

So ah tell me, because the figures were calculated by AFL NSW ACT this means that the ACT is now a part of the state of NSW NSWAFL?
Ahhh and ummm what was that you were talking with Topper me lad about certain people being 'dumb NSWAFL'?
You sir, need to pull your stupid inept rambling mind into line if you are to conserve any credibility. The ACT indeed!
How's that fart for ya Topper me boy? You smell it up good now you silly butt sniffing piglet!
