If NRL fans were loyal average crowd numbers would have doubled, not dropped by less than 1 percent. You are still behind, and I even request a source for this 6-10 percent drop you're talking about.
Rugby League has a lying culture. Altering crowd figures, relying on inaccurate TV figures from regional NSW and refusing to distance itself from Leagues Clubs and obtain it's own club memberships as it relies on LC's to survive as private entities.

Topper I gave you a source. It is the AFL - just google AFL average crowds. They provide very detailed/informative information.

PS Loyalty is when they stay with you not grow. You cannot be loyal until you are onboard

One thing those figures show is the trend for AFL crowds is going up nicely. Sure the average went down last year, but its no coincidence that bold expansion came in the same year. If the trend was down over the decade, or down without expansion, like the NRL last year, there may be cause for concern.

But no, it's all good. :D

And with such a high average, I wouldn't be worried at all of such a small drop.

Nope, it says youre not expanding.
AFL have new teams plus play more often in new locations, yet still more than double the NRL's average.

expansion accounted for about a 2% drop

The entire east coast had excessive rain. Melbourne had one of the wettest years on record. Sydney was wet, Brisbane was wet. That combined with expansion and a lopsided season are the reasons the AFL had a reduction in average crowds. However they still had more fans attend games than ever before, over double the NRL, despite games in Launceston, cairns, act and Darwin.

But anyone with a brain will look at the trend over a number of years, and the AFL crowds have been steadily climbing.

Yes, playing games at the 25k capacity Carrara was always going to incur a 4% reduction.
The remaining 1% reduction cab be quite easily put down to some poor onfield performances.
When you consider the general gobal finacial situation it's a pretty good result.
An onfield turn around by some of the bottom teams this year could produce some big improvements in crowds
however the introduction of the GWS probably will mean a further reduction in averages.
Nice try Cos.

In fact since the year 2000 the NRL have increased in crowd averages by less than 2k and the AFL have increased in crowd average by over 2k.

And, this takes into account last years reduction in AFL crowds!

So, it's all good for the AFL.

It can rain from Monday to Thursday... but be dry from Friday to Sun ( what occured in the AFL states ) & it still ends up being a very wet year

in the Nth... it was the complete reverse
I said Rain effected games
no one can remember an RL season like 2011 for games that were rained on

don't try that more fans BS either
less then 30K more overall... is the end result ...& it cost a fair bit to get this pathetic increase too .. 50 , 60 Million bucks
geez I hope they were worth it

as for trends going north ... its over for the time being
it will settle down to 30K ... a tad less maybe in a few years
all the nthn sides will continue to drag it down ...

meanwhile the NRL has huge scope for growth crowds wise ... as we move into bigger .. better stadia
massive increases in memberships
we'll crack 20K around the same time

And that's the cost of expansion. The AFL can more than afford to take a hit on crowd averages. After all, it's been climbing steadily year after year, and more than the NRL for the past 11.
