It's called tradition fool! It's one of the reasons the AFL can draw crowds of 100k to home and away games.

The fact is the AFL don't need to change the scheduling of their GF. They still win the TV ratings easily. They can afford to leave the game in its traditional time slot of Saturday afternoon. They don't need the extra a ratings and possible extra TV revenue.

If they still won easily.. which they don't ... they've been beaten 3 times in the last 6 years & despite putting their biggest club on display last year .. nearly got rolled again by the NRL in 2011 despite our GF not featuring any our big guns

if nearly 30% of Tasmanians watch the flogball GF
then its fair to asume the same % of RL mad fans in the bush .. in NSW & QLD watch the NRL's too

The thing you don't understand is that both codes GFs will have a proportion of "occasional" audience. These people will tune in to watch a program because they are home to do so. That proportion would be multiple multiple times higher in prime time compared to midday.

That is why prime time is prime time. That is why programs in the day rate poorly in comparison.
