Membership Numbers Compared - Swans vs Storm
Lets compare membership numbers to date for two teams in non traditional heartland areas.
Sydney Swans (No. 1 sporting club in town in terms of sponsorship, membership and attendances) - 12,200
http://membership.sydneyswans.com.au/
Melbourne Storm - 5.108
http://membership.melbournestorm.com.au/
Which code is stronger outside of it's heartland? Silly question I know. :P

Sydney Swans (No. 1 sporting club in town in terms of sponsorship, membership and attendances) and already have over 12,000 members signed for 2012 after just a few weeks of membership sales. Going gangbusters.

Re: Membership Numbers Compared - Swans vs Storm
I imagine just like NRL GF final tickets, NRL club memberships for 2012 have also been on sale since July.

Re: Membership Numbers Compared - Swans vs Storm
LC memberships, Beaussie. Not club memberships.
Rugby League has a lying culture. Altering crowd figures, relying on inaccurate TV figures from regional NSW and refusing to distance itself from Leagues Clubs and obtain it's own club memberships as it relies on LC's to survive as private entities.

Oh and don't bother with SOO! Those are rep games not NRL. Unless your also suggesting that Melbourne love soccer much more than RL, because the world cup sure rated higher than SOO.

Re: Membership Numbers Compared - Swans vs Storm
That's because your stupid. As if you compare any rep game to a local league match for comparison of interest. The interest isnt the sport, its the event. With that logic tennis is our most popular national sport! After all the Australian open final was the most watched sporting event in the last decade eclipsing RL and AFL easily.Raiderdave wrote:ahemXman wrote:And the 4 biggest NRL games?Raiderdave wrote:

Notice it was in prime time too! I wonder why tennis Australia and ch 7 moved the game to prime time? How silly! Surely they know the final would rate better in the middle of the day when the other stations have nothing decent to show!
