They had over 20k last year, that's not much behind the Swans and RL clubs only started pushing memberships 3-4 years ago.

I read an interesting thread on memberships at bf a little while ago and it seems the GWS pulled the wool over the ACT governments eyes in regards to how many $50 memberships they actually sold (your fellow AFL fans words). It was no where near the 5000, in fact it wasn't even half that and the GWS mob had to buy them themselves and give them away to reach the magical 5000 barrier.

Interesting times ahead I think, I can't wait to see how the GWS are going by round 8
