SAM Newman and Rex Hunt scorched the radio waves last night when Newman launched a personal attack on his former friend and one-time radio colleague.

Incensed by Hunt's comment that Channel 9 and Eddie McGuire were acting like "bully boys" over AFL TV rights, Newman phoned Hunt's 3AW program and subjected him to a vengeful tirade.

Newman called Hunt a "two-faced fraud and liar" and told Hunt: "People will realise you are a disgraceful, lying, two-faced pr--k."

Stung by Hunt's comments about Nine, Newman revealed details of private conversations he and Hunt shared. Hunt agreed he had told Newman Seven's Melbourne boss Ian Johnson was behind a Today Tonight attack on Newman.

Clearly stunned, Hunt did little but listen as Newman's anger spilled over.

"Well, there you are," Hunt sighed at the end of Newman's blast, but Newman hadn't finished.

"When you say 'There you are', I know you've got nothing left to say because unfortunately Rex, it's true," Newman said.

Putting things into perspective, Eddie and Sam have a lot to lose if the AFL rights go to Channel 7 and 10. Like last time when Channel 7 had the rights, it could mean no more footage/highlights for Channel 9 to use on the Footy Shows etc, not to mention no players signed with Channel 7 or 10 being able to appear on Channel 9.

This is hilarious watching how this is starting to pan out and its only been a few days since the announcement that Channel 7 and 10 would bid against Channel 9. Expect more whinging from Eddie and abuse from Sam on the Footy Show this week.

Surely Sam Newman and Eddie McGuire don't have much respect when it comes to this issue.

It's hilarious watching it all unfold before us. As far as I'm concerned, Channel 10 has been football's best asset in recent years and I'll be telling all who'll listen that they will continue to be good to AFL and should be supported.

Fuck Packer - a bigger dog hasn't been born yet!
