Tropical Cyclone Ingrid

Post by crocodileman »

This could be it fellas!

TC Ingrid is heading my way - a cyclone warning is now current for Darwin and surrounds. It is a Category 5 cyclone with winds of 320km/h in its centre. Things are starting to get very windy tonight and the humidity is heavy. Perfect weather for cyclones I'm told.

Luckily, my house was built straight after Cyclone Tracy in 1974 - the previous residence here was destroyed as was my whole suburb. My house is virtually indestructible now, made from pre-fabricated concrete, including the roof.

The only good news is that school will be cancelled on Monday.

Don't worry Beaussie, my dossier on League Unlimited merkins is safely secured down.

KE - you may have to keep the phone calls going (nudge, nudge, wink wink!) for a couple of days in my absence.

Yeah looks like an interesting night croc, category five is the most destructive cyclone going although there has been one category six 500kph+ monster winds which prior to the event was considered inconcievable. I love the power of nature and would love to see a cyclone but cant say I'd like to experience the brunt of one. Will continue with the phone calls in your absence, if the roof goes sleep in the bath. My folks were in Tracy, they stayed in the bathtub and from the photos thats all that was left back in 74'.
