FROM Greenacre to Greater Western Sydney, Setanta O'hAilpin reckons he has finally returned home.
The Irish cult hero was yesterday given a warm reception from the 1500 GWS fans at a fan day in Blacktown, which is just 25 minutes from where he was born.
Despite a wonderful career in hurling with Cork in Ireland, then a brilliant transition to AFL with Carlton, O'hAilpin spent the first part of his life in Sydney's western suburbs - a fact that stunned GWS officials yesterday.
"I was born at Bankstown General Hospital and spent my first five years living here," O'hAilpin said.
"There were five kids all in a two-bedroom house at Greenacre. I'm also of Islander descent, being Fijian and Samoan, and a lot of people don't know I was born here before I headed to Ireland when I was five years old.
"To come full circle now, it still amazes me and it will be a great experience."
O'hAilpin spent eight years and 80 games at the Blues before he was de-listed and thrown a lifeline by GWS at Thursday night's draft, taken at pick 79.
Coach Kevin Sheedy is delighted to have O'hAilpin on board and said after the draft that his "big leprechaun" can even help mentor Israel Folau.
O'hAilpin knows all about the former NRL pin-up and said of Folau: "I know he's strong, powerful and can take a big grab and has a big jump.
"He's an exciting player and I'm looking forward to playing with him. This is a great opportunity and I'm really looking forward to it.
"I had spoken to a few clubs, but all in all I'm happy to be here and working with a bunch of new young guys."
O'hAilpin will not be the only Irishman in town. The Sydney Swans have replaced Tadhg Kennelly with Irishman Tommy Walsh.

There have to be many more than that.
Rugby League has a lying culture. Altering crowd figures, relying on inaccurate TV figures from regional NSW and refusing to distance itself from Leagues Clubs and obtain it's own club memberships as it relies on LC's to survive as private entities.

I never said hundreds. I said I believe there are more than just three. I suggest to Beaussie that he provide other examples. I'm sure he can.
