You called on me to provide AFL leagues outside Australia. I now call on you to provide RL leagues in Darwin, Adelaide and Perth. And you have a long way to go to catch up with the AFL presence in your own heartland. Have you even seen TLPG's website? You aren't busting out at all.

Raider, stop pulling stuff out of your rear end. Those thugby leagues in the AFL states go nowhere near the AFL presence in your precious heartland! 249 clubs in New South Wales alone! On the overseas stuff, I haven't looked into it as much as Topper has (I just pointed out the pages and left it at that) but in the US at least do you seriously think they'd play for fun? If there's no money in it they don't play it! Even the ex-pats! The same would apply to every league that is affiliated with the AFL!

Oh and talking of number of leagues. Only one in each AFL state for the thugby boys? Ahem - 8 in Queensland, 13 in New South Wales with 9 above the Barassi Line, and not to mention 5 in the Northern Territory! So where are those numbers for your precious game? We've had those numbers in QLD since the 1970's and in New South Wales since the 1980's!

while I think it means next to nothing anyway ... the number of people playing RL in the Sthn States is increasing rapidly
the number playing singletball in NSW & QLD is irrelevant , if it did the Lions & Swans would be a lot more popular then they are .. but they are going backwards while the numbers of skinny scrawny white boys playing fumbleball in NSW & QLD has remained steady

I re-checked the website figures and in fact I was going on the grand final ratings only, which was rather foolish of me. The AFL did win that battle. I shall double check those figures and get back to you on that one.

Do explain to us how a competition can function at the highest elite level with poor numbers in local competitions. This is why playing numbers are very relevant because the more players there are the more competition there is leading to a better product. And the wider the collection range in terms of population the better.

You dumbo's really need to get over the nonsense of NRL. It's Rugby League, not just NRL. So when you use to play state of Origin, was that AFL, it was the same game right!!! I do not have to watch a stupid hybrid game because my code is played in the same manner in quite a few countries around the world. Therefore, any game played is part of the count.

AFL ran their State of Origin. NRL do not. A considerable difference. However I would not count it because it is not part of the home and away season for premiership points, or the finals. That is where the basis is for TV rights for example, and it's where most fans have their interest.

As Daniel Green has pointed out regarding tv ratings for the AFL and NRL.

The above figures, of course, only take into account the capital cities, with Oztam ratings - being the currency by which television programs are bought and sold - only measuring the capitals. Most of the Rugby League persuassion would argue that the NRL has a far greater representation in the regional areas than the AFL. This is undoubtably true, with the decentralized states of NSW and Queensland encompassing large regional areas of Rugby League loving folk. But is this regional area, which, in Television terms makes up approximately 30% of the market, enough to claw back the 25 million viewer deficit (and a deficit in viewing time of 115 million hours?) Not by a long way.
