RL Aust v Eng Int packed house, Int AFL get 30K for 2 games
International rules struggle for to get just over 30K even with one of the games played in the AFL heartland. If only there were more seats at the stadium this crowd would be an absolutely huge international crowd.
Australia and England will clash amid packed house in Four Nations Final - Rugby League
The Elland Road Stadium in Leeds, which will feature England and Australia in contention for the Gillette Four Nations title on Saturday, November 19, is a full-house already, with over 34,174 tickets sold on Thursday alone.
Last week records revealed that almost 20,000 tickets were sold and the Rugby Football League (RFL) sources verified that the remainder of the tickets were out by Thursday, with still two more days left to the final showdown.
Some supporters and fans of either side that wish to witness England and Kangaroos lock horns may be left out because of the unavailability of tickets. However, it has also been revealed that an extra 500 tickets were also released early Thursday morning but they too failed to satisfy the ever-increasing demand of the tickets.
Expressing his thoughts about the sold-out Gillette Four Nations final showdown, Rugby Football League (RFL) chief executive, Nigel Wood said, "This tournament has really captured the imagination of rugby league fans across the world and it's a shame that many people have had to miss out. We have worked closely with Leeds United to free up as many seats as possible by working around the restrictions caused by the ongoing construction work on the East Stand."
It has been shared by the authorities of the venue-Elland Road, that the Stadium will not be able to utilise its maximum capacity because of the East Stadium is under construction. If the construction work gets completed, which is highly unlikely, more tickets will be released before the match.
The hype of the final clash between England and Australia is so high that the capacity of the showdown’s venue has run out of space, which is comparable to the situation created in 2009’s final, also at Elland Road, amongst the clamour of 31,042 spectators.
The hiked up demand for the tickets is not solely because of the contending teams. The fact that the Four Nations will be on-hold until 2014 is also one of the contributing factors.
Four Nations will not be played during 2013, because the next Rugby League World Cup is scheduled to take place in the same year. However, the international game programme for the next year is yet to be released.

34,174 for a Rugby League Tri Nations final in the home of Rugby League. Not even close to a sellout. Oh dear, no surprises why they didn't want to book Wembley. How pathetic.

And yet still sold more tickets in one game than your two pathethic (ticket giveaway) games. 34K in a stadium that is being renovated looks even better when you compare it to the AFL international joke, which was played in its only heartland.borgidiom wrote:Ellads Road capacity 39k, 34k turn up.... So what you're saying is, Rugby League officials in the UK had no faith in their product being able to get a bigger crowd at Wembely and as such decided it would look better staging the game at a stadium with reduced capacity due to a redevelopment. Hmm ok and still no sellout.eels fan wrote:Hahaha, another fail from the boggerboys, Elland road has been getting done up for a long time now, a real sports fan (non ******* that is) would know this

Have the hell can they book out Wembley for the Final when England might not have made it?
You're an idiot.
Yeah, a 90k stadium with 20k in it if Aus played NZ would look great.
Imba.

The AFL have admitted they didn't promote the International Rules series properly like they have in the past. Still with little promotion respectable crowds were seen in Melbourne and on the Gold Coast. The next series will be in Ireland where crowds of 65,000 - 80,000 are the norm.
