Suns - Is it finally the year?
Re: Suns - Is it finally the year?
Yes, tough ask re: Freo. I do think the sun's match up well though - they need to protect rowell a lot more - possibly use him here and there as a resting forward. Have Humphry take the bounce - and even Jefferies - just a few times to mix things up - be unpredictable to the opposition as much as possible. Ben King also needs to what he did V carlton - first time I have seen him lead up and then back and then off again - sure he can kick goals which is good but could do so much more re: defensive work in forward 50 - doesn't chase, rarely tackles - has one go at a contest and that's his work done in his head.

Wow - what a game. That win means regardless of any further wins the season has been. Great success. And they are a good chance if beating Brisbane with lauchis Neal out.

What a game that was last night.
I left Engie Stadium last night disappointed the Giants couldn’t get the job done vs the Hawks. However, got home and was treated to a truly great elimination final from Perth.
Way to go Gold Coast. So happy for your club and long suffering fans. An all Queensland semi-final is great for footy in the sunshine state. Go Suns!!!

Re: Suns - Is it finally the year?
So you would have to say a big pass for the Suns this year. Made finals and actually won one. I still think there are several question marks and lots of room for improvement. They lost several games they should have clearly one - including the one against Port that would have seen them finish top 4 - but in saying that, the Suns were probably the weakest of the top 9 sides to be honest in that their best was not as good as the other teams best. So I still think they are an average team. The upside is that they should only get better from here on in - but where? I think the telling thing where they are falling down in the forward line. I think Long did well throughout although a few quiet games here and there. Reid stepped up but made the errors a second year player makes - but did well up forward. I think King is the weak link. Yes, he has kicked a lot of goals - but often in games they would have won anyway - and I don't see him as the power forward any team really needs - he gets few possessions - rarely chases and rarely shows a second effort. I think he could do better playing half-forward - or may even make a good backman. I think if Walter can get his act together he is exactly the forward any team needs - and a swap of Kind for Curnow would not be a bad swap I think - as he could also reach the craft to Walter. Ballard and Graham will also be back along with Cholesy - so so top line players there. So I am thinking 2026 will be still along the lines of this year - should make finals - but wouldn't be surprised if they didn't - but also wouldn't be if they went on to prelim.
