rubbish
its socialist ALBO doing anything for attention and trying to keep chinas influence out of the region so its PVL and ALB! any half wit with some knowledge will know the team will be plagued with issues operating and trying to attract and retain players for starters
ALP funding support for the venue apparently was tied to the AFL supporting the Yes campaign.
the team AFL will run and pay for most of it

********
Stadiums Tasmania will run the venue. There is no provision for the AFL to run the new stadium in the contract.
i meant the AFL will run, manage and provide most of the money to run the team, something the NRL does not do
most of the NRL clubs hve club grounds paid for by the tax payer and training centers paid for also, the AFL teams receives grants but still pays for most of the costings

the Voice was for mostly a political push the NRL pushed the narrative also. that topic is for a different thread if you know much of the roman empire times sports in large Colosseums were used to keep people distracted and amused

The board make up for this team and its operating paramaters are almost identical to the AFLs Tasmania license.

Shark Park is owned by the Sharks. Kayo Stadium is owned by the Dolphins.

Most AFL club facilities are paid for by the taxpayer in whole or part, and they all play on grounds owned by the Taxpayer unless they are out of Marvel Stadium, or Cazalys stadium.

Dont care about your political diatribes, I care only that the funding for the stadium was only granted by the Feds on condition of AFL support for the Voice.

The Mayor of Hobart floated the idea that Bellrieve should be redone for about 1/3 of the cost

Its not growing. Its the same old malcontents.

The Mayor feels like a new stadium is too big for Hobart. Council itself released a report spruiking the economic benefit, that the mayor then bitched about because it didnt include the part about it ruining the view.

EVERY report and EVERY submission is publicly available. Most states dont require a POSS - its a uniquely Tasmanian thing which has always ended badly. Most states just go ahead and build what they want as long as Parliament allows it - and Parliament will still get the final say here.

the operating costs of the team and grass roots levels the AFL is not fleecing the tax payer for this like the NRL is in WA and other teams line PNG

why doen't the AFL stil have club grounds and why didnt they every recieve government momey to run them like the NRL does for there teams?

Guess again. The AFL is taking 11m a year from the Tasmanian Goverment just to make the team viable.

That decision was made in the mid 80s with the Ground Rationalisation scheme between the VicGov and the VFL. (WA did something similar in Perth). The idea was spending less money on suburban grounds meant money could go into a couple of major grounds with supporting infrastructure like transport. Attendances have justified this position.

was that for the first x number of years? the AFL will still chip in the large majority tofund the the side and be responsible for the runnings

in the case of WA and PNG the NRL wanted none of the responsibility

that was more the 90s, aside from geelong the stadium down there the AFL has seen nothing of the funding the NRL has in training facilities and club stadiums

Theres no fixed limited.
in the case of WA and PNG the NRL wanted none of the responsibility
in the case of both, the NRL is doing both. There is fundamentally no difference between the proposed NRL Perth setup and the AFL team in Tasmania.

Thats utter nonsense

Almost every AFL and NRL club has had their training facilities upgraded at taxpayer expense in recent years, regardless of state. Kardinia Park is called handout park for a reason. Ikon Park (Carlton), Victoria Park (Collingwood), Whitten Oval (Bulldogs), Punt Road (Richmond), Tullamarine (Essendon), RSEA Park (St KIlda), Alberton Oval (Port Adelaide), Hall of Industries (Sydney), the Giants training venue, Springfield (the Lions), Carrara (the Suns), Arden Street (North), Lathlain oval (West coast), Cockburn (Fremantle) - all have had local, state and federal dollars thrown at them - used for training, AFLW and state matches.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought Collingwood's training facility was at Gosh's paddock - or across the road from the G. Not Victoria Park?
