That's exactly my point dopey. The list does not include Pay TV therefore doesn't account for all the viewers who prefer to watch simulcast games live on Pay TV with no ads. That being the case, this list is therefore misleading.pussycat wrote:My point is quite simple, that list, the one you claimed was influenced by Pay TV contains little or no pay TV matches.

Your point(as usual) doesnt make sense. The matches that appear on that list are pretty much all finals and rep matches. Which AFL club matches(if PTV was included) would out rate your finals or grand final ? Any???Beaussie wrote:That's exactly my point dopey. Beaussie wrote:Oh dear, please try and keep up Raider. I've already pointed out that AFL games are simulcast on FTA and Pay TV with AFL fans preferring the Pay TV option with no ads. That naturally reduces the FTA audience numbers. The NRL does not a similar arrangement where audiences can be split between FTA and Pay. Like I said, do keep up sunshine.
ah....

so let me get this straight
flogball fans who prefer to watch their footy on PAY... didn't watch any of these games ?
the biggest games of the year
because they weren't on PAY ?...

you are a moron
these figures represent the high end of available TV audiences for the big end of year games
theres only one place you can watch them
on FTA ....
its straight up ... the AFL with the distinct advantage of prime time coverage in all 5 capitals for all these games
the NRL with this only mainly in 2
& the AFL was nailed to the wall by the NRL
surrender now
the war is over

Can we take it, from your silence, Beau that you admit the NRL is kicking the AFL's butt majorly in ratings?

You lot just make things up as you go along. As the tv ratings on this site prove week after week, season after season, the AFL is leading the way in tv ratings for Australian sport - hence record tv rights deals everytime they are negotiated. You lot just wont accept the facts.

One post to break my leave of this board, and then I'll leave again.
Every time participation is brought up, the thugby supporters bail to the TV ratings. That is just typical of a pack of losers. Look at the big picture, guys! Look at attendances. Look at playing numbers. The footy is MURDERING the rugby - and so what if those figures are from 2009? Do you seriously think that the figures would have changed in any substantial way in two years? Give me a break.
The TV ratings look good for thugby because it's a TV game. Footy isn't - it's better live. This reflects in the attendances.
The only threat to the AFL right now is soccer according to that link in the OP, and I wish the AFL would bloody well take that threat more seriously.
That is all from me.

participation means ... well .... nothing
Soccer being the perfect proof of this .... having higher rates of participation then any sport in the country & probably being the 4th most popular sport
they do not mean anything
they do not translate into interest .... sports with higher participation rates are ... easier to play
kids in NSW... the ACT & QLD want to play League, & emulate their heroes ..... Jarrad Hayne , Benji Marshall ... Josh Dugan & Darren Lockyer .... but mostly mummy won't let them because she believes its too pyhsical a sport for them.... so they go for softer, less demanding options like soccer & flogball (AFL

TV ratings prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Rugby League is now the most popular sport in the country
129.5 Million People watching RL on TV in 2011 ... another 3.8 Million at grounds ... for a total of more then 133Million peepers watching it
compared to just 113 Million watching giggleball on TV , & 7 Million at the grounds .. for 120 Millions sets of eyes
the interest in AFL is on the decline
the interest in NRL is on the rise
thems the facts
deal with em

I concur with Raider, let this goose TLPG come back and I will work with the NRL in making mince meat of him.
