2024 Financial Result
Record crowds, record membership and strong on-field performance have combined to put the club in a positive financial position.
Dec 20, 2024, 9:29am

Season 2024 saw the Sydney Swans record an underlying operating profit of $684,437 for the financial year ending October 31, 2024.
After allowing for non-cash depreciation and amortisation relating to the Basil Sellers Richard Colless Centre, the club recorded a statutory loss of $4,676,272.
Due to strong support from the club’s members, partners, and generous donors, the Swans remain debt free as of October 31, 2024.
The relatively small cash profit achieved by the club, in a year highlighted by significant on-field success, highlights the challenges faced operating in the Sydney market.
Key items contributing to the financial outcome for the year include:
Operating income increasing year-on-year by 19% to $73.2million
75,152 Sydney Swans members, which is a new club record
Average home game attendances of more than 38,000 at the SCG
Membership and match day revenue of $9m (up from $18.2in 2023)

Re: Footy Club Income & Revenue
Be interesting to see the depreciation list and how much longer they can continue to claim this for Basil centre - nice write off though. Just did my own taxes (finally) and thankful for the depreciation claimed lol.Beaussie wrote: Wed Feb 26, 2025 3:15 pm2024 Financial Result

Re: Footy Club Income & Revenue
A very interesting read and analysis:
Assessing the “AFL Power Index”- who are the financial heavyweight clubs?
Sean Lawson
https://thisweekinfootball.com/twif/wee ... ight-clubs

The key goal for clubs isn’t revenue, it’s profit. These iinvestments are to provide an operating surplus for reinvestment into football.
At the moment, pokies still reign as the most profitable side business. The Lions with the largest pokies profits and the highest proportional reliance on them, made about $8m in profit last year at their venue.
Some clubs have a higher football income but don’t make as big a surplus. Sydney for example has the highest sponsorship income in the league, but this comes with high operating costs, and they pour a lot of money into reaching a somewhat disengaged fanbase. Adelaide by contrast runs a cheaper operation in a quieter city and has a devoted fanbase who don’t take much “activation”.

Re: Footy Club Income & Revenue
Hmmm, no mention of Melbourne Storm?
Good to see the Giants doing better than long established NRL clubs and the A-League Western Sydney Wanderers.
