Given the title of this thread - of the ratings are now thought to be compromised, tampered with, illegitimate etc. then is there any reason to discuss them.

are about as credible .

most other TV ratings data during the year has been fine , following a pattern & path... the fumbles & giggles STV ratings for finals going up sharply correlates with the sharp decline in FTA ratings ( down 1.3 million on 2023 ) & hundreds of thousands free kayo subscriptions
but...
when its beyond outlier ridiculous with no legit explanation .. it needs to be challenged

they are credible when it suits rugby league fans who dont WANT to fucking understand anything except averages (and even then only when they are favourable). For rugby league, the fate of the ratings world hangs on the average viewing figures derived from a SURVEY of 12,000 people extrapolated out to the rest of the population. No other information or SURVEYS that disputes this - even if said surveys interview 5 times as many people - shall be allowed for discussion.

This is totally misleading, 2024 is the national audience, the rest are the 5 city metro audience.

2024 is the largest only since 2021.

2005 still has the national record of 4.449 million.

I think 2022 was Swans v Geelong ? So only one traditional market - the talk prior to the grand final was this should be bigger as you are drawing into two non traditional markets - a lot of people who wouldn’t normally watch - compared to only 1 or none from non traditional markets.

I’ve search and can’t see anyone else comment that they thi k there was some nafarious activity in regard to the grand final. Maybe people had better access on streaming with 7 plus thus being away may still have watched on a device ?
