Wow, even with the flawed regionals that our throwball fans love to constantly bring up, the news isn't good for the prime time Sunday night NRL Grand Final up against a Saturday afternoon AFL Grand Final. Another year, another smashing victory for the AFL.
Mediaweek are reporting total audiences as follows:
AFL audience - 3.418m (including 788k regional)
NRL audience of 3.255m (including 1.095m regional)
http://www.mediaspy.org/forum/index.php ... nd-october
Just goes to show a truly national competition like the AFL will always rate better than a 2 state wannabe national competition.

you had an all Melbourne GF with 2 well supported clubs playing
we had arguably one of the smallest & least supported Sydney Clubs up against a non Australian side & almost beat you
.. just 160K behind
but its the overall Finals figures that make for interesting reading
the NRL finals attracted finals TV ratings of 15,072,000 veiwers
the AFL finals attracted ..........13,315,000
a whopping
a dead set whopping ...........

it didn't ... it 1.25 Billkaskill wrote:Im a little confused as to why if NRL is "smashing" the AFL in tv ratings would the AFL get 1.4... BILLION DOLLARS (as doctor evil would say) in tv deals?
& we haven't done our deal yet ... our deal to be sorted out over the first half of 2012
so you're a whole lot less confused now eh ?
